Do you know how the Tesoro Golden umax compares to the Tesoro Vaquero, Cibola depth wise,or is one better then the other, or has better features, what one would you perfer--will use in michigan soil
Golden is 3 machines in one-notch, tonal id, beep-dig. For parks, tot lots, schools, etc. it would be the ideal choice. The Vaq is definitely the deepest and that is basically it's best feature because of the adjustable g/b. After over 30 years of detecting and realizing most of my best finds are in the 4" range, I would opt for the Golden IN MY AREA.
Out of those three detectors I would take the Vaquero due to the ground balance which makes it the deepest of the three. Also if this is your first metal detector, the golden can be a little more involved with the notch feature. The Vaquero is deep and simple to use.
what would be the depth of the Golden umax and the depth of the Vaquero on ave.[/quote
The Golden is said to be on par with my Silver umax-which is 6" Robert, I believe, has stated the Vaq and Cibola are about 2" deeper.
buy the Vaquero, you are gonna be much happier. You can change coils on the Vaquero and they are going to work fine because of the manual ground balance.
you may have to send your detector and coils in to get them tuned to the detector if you go with a Golden or Cibola for peak performance with factory preset ground balance.
