Eric,
I've been hearing a single "blip" sound over the threshold. I'm unsure if this is from some sort of electrical interference. The "blip" sound is heard no more than every few minutes at worse to going completely and it's intensity can range from just audible to quite loud. The "blip" is louder if the threshold is increased.
I have new good quality alkaline batteries, so I'm pretty sure it's not the low battery alarm.
The noise is not regular in it's timing, but I believe was worse when nearer some power lines close to the beach front clubhouse.
The performance of the detector is in no way diminished. The sound can be heard regardless of whether the loop is being swung or not. I believe the REJECT setting didn't help overcome this sound, but I will double check this setting again if the sound is still there next time.
I am fairly confident that this is part of the detector's normal operation, but I thought I'd post this question anyway.
Otherwise, I have been totally "blown away" by this great machine.
