Goldquest SS detectors have arrived stateside from Eric. Below is a description of the unit.
If needed please contact me by email at: wcrabtre@cape.com or Mr.Bill@Surfscanner.com
GOLDQUEST SS
This is a belt mounted, lightweight and very simple to use detector, virtually switch on and go. GOLDQUEST SS is a high frequency P.I. motion mode unit with variable amplitude audio, similar to most VLF's. It is equally at home on a wet or dry beach or in light to medium mineralized areas where gold nuggets are to be found. In all these situations the detector automatically adjusts itself to the environment at a speed which the operator can set with a SAT control.
GOLDQUEST SS is probably the most sensitive treasure hunting PI on the market today. It easily detects low conductivity jewelry, thin gold and platinum rings and nuggets of less than 1gm in weight. One unique feature is that by use of the pulse frequency control, the detector performance can be optimized for different sizes and conductivity of objects, and different degrees of ground conductivity.
GOLDQUEST SS is supplied with an 11in (280mm) search coil which gives both good depth and sensitivity to small objects. Both search coil and phones can be unplugged for transport, and the unit is powered by 8AA alkaline batteries mounted in a removable holder. Battery life is 20 - 25 hours.
GOLDQUEST SS is lightweight. The control unit with batteries weighs in at only 1lb. The 11in coil plus shaft is 1.75lb. This arrangement enables you to search all day with minimum fatigue.
ELECTRONIC SPECIFICATIONS
Pulse delay 10 - 50 uS
TX width 30 - 150uS
TX frequency 10,000pps - 2000pps.
Current drain 75mA @ 12v
Cost $750. US dollars.

Hi Bill
I assume the coil is an open centre concentric. Any plans on bringing out a smaller coil preferably in a DD? This would hopefully allow the unit to be used in heavy goldfields mineralisation, while still being very sensitive.
Are batteries etc. including in the price, and how long will the unit run on one charge?
Thanks
I look forward to some depth/sensitivity comparisons against BBS/FBS on the beach and VLF/MPS on the goldfields.
