Hi Larry,
Thanks for the report and compliments. I copied and pasted the text over to this forum. However, to see the pictures, readers will have to go to the Surf and Sand forum.
Jest got my Goldquest ss pi from mr.bill at surfscanners. I was having problems with types of detectors, some worked good but too heavy, some would be light but not go near the wet sand. Frustrated with detectors. In talking to mr. bill over the phone i sort of new what i was looking for, a detector that was light extra light like tesoro light. I wanted it to go into the wet sand and shallow water hunt with - i wanted it to go deep. Having already had a headhunter pi, i likes them because they go deep so i chose the goldquest ss super light from surfscanner detectors, mr. bills operation. Waited to get it shipped ground takes forever sometimes, any way got it two days ago, took it out of the box and i could tell imidiatly the this is a quality machine, not like i have had before. Eric foster thought things out when he designed and built these goldquests ss, the quality of workmanship and craftsmanship are supurb. There from englands, any way the detector is super light. I belive the control box weighs in at 1 lbs and the loop shaft and arm cuff weigh in at 1.75 lbs. Any way hipmounted is the way it works, the connectors are top knotch not cheapos, the cables is solid and he even thoughht to put a bigger nut/bolt for the loop to shaft. Even the electrical tys are velcro and actually work corectly. S -shaft and arm cup with shaft all the stuff you have to usually do to detectors is already done correctly. Dont have to drill extra holes mount them on straightshafts cause there too heavy and unbalanced, nothing. So finally i dont have to modify to get to work correctly. What a relief. It was a well thought out machine the control box is hipmounted and you can disconnect the the coil and headphones. It has no speaker so you need to wear headphones, which is good because i need to hear the quiet soft whispers to let me know its a deep target. The control box has three knobs, simple, one for turn on and threshold and the other frequncy and and sat adjust knob, simple. Built in a solid case with 4 screws that are 1/4 turn machine screws to remove the cover and replace the batterys. Easy in and out and your on the move again. Any way im jest really jazzed about this detector shure its a pi and you have to dig all, but after today i can tell bobby pins and nails it double beeps and i mean this detector goes deep 15 inches on a nickle is deep. Yesterday i found 3 rings non gold but small rings, thats good, and today i got a pair of earings, two rings and a chain. Already a small chain my other detectors would havent even seen as small chains are a difficult thing for detectors, thats for sure. Anyway mr. bill at surfscanners gets 5 stars from me for helping me out, and eric foster gets 5 stars for actually taking the time to figure out what a beachhunter is looking for with a detector, his attention to details and quality in craftsmanship.
Thanks larry ca
