Detecting with the goldquest I have found very thin pieces of wire less than the thickness of a pencil line 1" long and giving a good signal ,but really do we want to find such things ,what would you advise for not picking up these objects ,

Hi John,
Unfortunately. PI detectors are sensitive to iron wire, pins, nails etc. Because of their magnetic properties, they give a signal that is out of proportion to their size. Sometimes it is possible to identify such targets by the audio response, which is often a double blip in one direction of scan, and a very weak signal when scanned at 90 degrees. Coins and rings when horizontal, or up to 45 degrees angle, give a uniform single blip whichever way you scan.
