Thinking of purchasing a GP 3500 next week but just noticed remarks on the goldscan. When will this unit be out and what are the differences?

Hi Patriot,
I'm not familiar with the GP3500, other than what I have read on the forums. I did have a SD2200 for a while, and a GP is, I guess, a further development of that.
The Goldscan 5 works on the same principle but the pulse timing and circuitry are rather different, as is the construction of the search coil. I don't suppose the small object sensitivity and detection range are much different between the two machines, but differences may lie in other areas such as immunity to em interference and less detection of hotrocks. See Mr Bill's report. The mechanical arrangement is different, as there is no provision for shaft mounting, and the rechargeable battery is housed in the electronics. There is also the built in switchable probe, which Bill did not take to Arizona, because of space restrictions. This is valuable in quickly pinpointing a target down in a hole, or in rock crevices. The search coil is full submersible, so the Goldscan 5 also doubles as an effective beach and waters edge detector.
They will be coming on stream over the next two or three months, with test units going to different locations to verify its ground balancing performance.
Eric.

the high priest then. When you create something, you imitate God. And I think in your case, there was definitely some Divine Inspiration.

I have a detector I bought from Eric 25 years ago, and it is so much more powerful than anything made in the US, there is no comparison.
GOLDSCAN-5, YOU CAN'T LOSE.
