GOLDSCAN 5 UPDATE

Eric Foster

New member
Everything is going well on the Goldscan 5. A late decision was taken in completely re-laying the main circuit board to incorporate a few other minor circuit details, and minimise the amount of hard wiring. The new board is now built and tested, and is the one shown in the picture. The small piggy back board is the audio generator that gives the tone ID plus the normal variable amplitude and threshhold adjustment. Other electronics that is out of sight on the metal base plate under the circuit board, are the battery charging circuit, and the constant current supply components for the transmitter. The top plate, on which the NiMh battery is mounted in the central recess, sits on the corner pillars, the bottom left of which has been removed temporarily to get soldering access to the board.

Work has already commenced on building further boards for the first production units, while much of the mechanical work is already done on the case and mounting plates.

Eric.
