Can you tell me the difference between a goldscan and a goldscan II.
I know they were designed for the beach , but would they also work as a gold prospecting det.
Thanks for the help.
Tom

Hi Tom,
The Goldscans were originally designed for gold prospecting, but several customers tried them on the beach with good success and it then gained more popularity as a beach machine. Initially there was Goldscan 1, which had a completely shaft mounted electronics and battery unit. Although having good performance, it was rather heavy and complicated to manufacture. Only a few of these were built before it was redesigned as the Goldscan 2 (11). This was the more familiar chest mounted control unit which was in production for several years. There was also a high power version called Goldscan 3 which had a 24V battery pack. In 1994, the electronics was miniaturised and a return made to a shaft mounted unit. This was made very lightweight by having a separate battery pack mounted on the belt. This was called the New Goldscan, or just Goldscan. Some export units were made under licence by Pulse Technology who called them Goldscan 4. Latterly, the ground cancelling circuitry, which was for iron mineralised ground , was omitted and the unit renamed Goldquest, which was purely a beach machine.
Eric.
