Good bye to our family cat Bruce...

We appreciated the prayers you all gave to help keep Bruce alive a little while ago. God gave us Bruce to enjoy and to care for. We thank God for allowing us to be special to him and he to us. The poison that apparently was still in his body only served to give him more time to be with us but internally he was dying day by day. We could no longer wait for death to take him so we have had to put him to sleep. He lost weight, lost muscle tone and was just skin and bones. He will be missed. I have had the pleasure of his company for almost 10 years - Sherry much much longer than that.

A sad day.

Thank you for the prayers that allowed us to be with him a short time longer. Thank you God for the blessing we called Bruce. You are a Good God.

So sorry for your's and Sherry's loss, for I know how sorrowful it is to lose a pet! Cliff lost Princess in May and I lost Tony in 1997....still remember him and his love for me which I will never forget and I know that it is God Who gives us the blessings of an animal for a good and kindly pet! Tony was special as he was deaf but we had a good repouir between us! Thank You God and Jesus for the time we had together! God Bless! Betty

Ahhhh sooo sorry. I feel your pain. I have one Woocilla who is going on 19 and it can't be long for her now. But I apreciate every day I have with her.

May the Good Lord send you peace and comfort at this time.

Our prayers are with you Pete. We really do become close to our pets. They become a part of the family, whether we admit it or not. To lose one is always sad. We have a cat that is almost 10 years old. Joan and I got him just after we got married. He is like Bruce was. Real skinny, and nothing but bones, but he hates the vet and becomes really mean when we take him, so the vet says it might kill him(the cat, not the vet) if we subject him(the cat not the vet) to the agitation of the visit. Not sure what is wrong with him. Been like that for awhile, but he still gets around good. Mostly lays around watching Animal Planet. Really, he does.

We believe ours encountered a Wolf spider - probably ate it and I believe the poison that spider packs kills the muscles paralyzing its prey. In this case when it first happened any touching and bright light hurt Bruce. We gave him Benedryl...we knew too much could kill him but hoped it would help ease the pain. I think they antihistamine in the Benedryl counter acted the poison enough to give him relief...along with all the prayers to give him a longer life with us. Unfortunately the Benedryl only helped to ease the pain and not be an anti venom for the poison already working in his system. Possibly the same has happened with you cat.

Bruce was a great hunter. A fly would never get away from him and am sure he treated spiders the same...protecting us from them at night. He protected us when the dogs started a fight in the house when we got a new dog in the house. He put them all in their places letting them know he was the top cat around there. Not one of them had challenged him since that time.

It is hard to lose a pet. I have lost a faithful dog of over 10 years (a Jack Russell) who was smarter than some of the people I knew LOL.

We have lost several birds from our flock....we still have 11 parrots. Some will out live us but most will die as well. We also have 4 dogs. So we will still have times when our hearts hurt from the loss. I just remind myself that God gives good gifts and pets so far have been good for us and us for them.

Pete, I am soooooo sorry. I will definitely be praying for y'all.

Lisa
