good chance ill sell my deus

as most of you know I had to fight tooth and nail to get a replacement a couple weeks ago. Well I have my replacement. Put it together. Went out for the first time yesterday. Low and behold I have the Same issue as the old one. Coincidence?? who knows??

It wont stop falsing to the slightest touch and when I swing from left to right or right to left it produces a signal sound. No matter what program. I am sick of this deus issues/crap.

Any thoughts before I throw it like a ww2 german potato masher off the next bridge I see?
 
There were a few sites in the Chicago area that the Deus would not play nor anything else for that matter. If you have used another machine without the chatter, thenm you might be in an area that the Deus won't run without the chatter. We hunted a site today that produced well but it sounded like a machine gun all the time.

Have you tried turning the control unit on away from the coil and seeing what you get; i.e., is it in the control unit or the coil?

I would be surprised if XP sent you an untested unit.

It might be time to look at other options based on your experience . . . . starting with a bad taste is never a good way to get into a model

I don't know anything of your area and how it would affect the Deus but something else is going on because I just don't see the Deus you get each time as being defective unless there is a conspiracy theory against you and owning a Deus:bouncy:

There has to be something environmental going on.

Can I address this..............when you turn on the system you turn on the control unit first and you hold the coil off the ground pointed up vertically toward the sky????? < At least this is what I read somewhere as proper.

Then do you turn on the headset after you get the control unit on?????

Just me brain storming here some of the most basic things.

Have you also tried going somewhere further away from wherever you are starting up your Deus to see if it could realy be your immediate environment causing this like Andy hinted????
 
You dont carry a mobile phone anything like that when you go out detecting do you,may seem like a stupid question but sometimes that can cause major problems,but often over looked ??? Just a thought of course,have you tried a different location as something close may be driving the detector mental but another location may rectify the problem,once again just a thought.

Have you ever used another brand of detector in that loction as something external is driving the machine crazy rather than a faulty machine No2,process of elimination me thinks.
 
It's straight from the distributor and was surely tested before they sent it to you ?

ok. Heres the deal. I lived in TN before I came here and had the same issue. Now being here in Va same thing. No matter where I go this happens. Tomorrow ill make a video of whats going on

All the obvious questions above have obvious answers. No steel toe boots etc etc
Yes I turn on unit with it in air wait for beep than turn on headphones. My friend I hunt with doesn't do this and never effects his performance. Hes been using his Deus since day one. The headphones I have are the was4's now with the control unit on a pair of grey ghost. I hunt all these areas with a at-pro and have zero issues. Im just frustrated. I cant stand this unit anymore. Again my friend has a 2year old deus with 9inch coil and does not have this problem.
 
This new unit you speak of. Are all the components new??? headphones, coil, control head???
What sensitivity levels are you running???
Have you taken the detector to a rural setting and tried???
Have you tried adding some ground notch?
Is your bud close to you so you can switch components??
The deus will not be completely quiet when running, a little small chatter in background especially running 90 plus sens is normal. Both of mine do it.
Is the serial # different than your previous unit???
Try running your unit with just the control head speaker, not the headphones.
 
That really sucks and I wouldn't blame you for getting away from the Deus. Never heard of such a thing before form any manufacturer,

Was wondering if you tried switching out coils and controllers with your buddy's Deus to see if that might isolate the issue? If you paired up your new coil with his older controller or his coil with your controller.

Looking forward to seeing the video with live settings please...this is so unusual.
 
Seem to remember we asked if there was another Deus you could test your control unit / headphones / coil with and you said there wasn't . . . now your friend has one that works fine????

Not saying you are not having inssues but having tried to help you once on the phone and then on the forums, it seems very odd as to what you have happening . . . . again, I really doubt that XP sentr you a replacement that was untested. Since you do seem to have someone that has components that you can test with your unit now, how about doing that and reporting what you find.

Why don't you just sell it and use the AT Pro if that is all that will work for you or maybe you could make arrangements with Andy and let him check it out. I am sure if there is something wrong or not wrong with the machine he will give you the straight scoop.

I am by no means a Deus expert, but have experienced similar problems. First, are you testing in the same exact area everytime? Second, take the Deus to three or four different spots to check out. I had a very frustrating thing happen four or five years ago. Neighbors about 150 feet away had an invisible dog fence installed and I did not know it was done. When the fence was on, I could not get my detector to settle down. I tried it three or four times in my yard with the same results. I was sure it was my detector. I tried everything like new batteries, changing coils, master resets, and etc. Another neighbor asked me to find a water pipe to his garage that was capped and only several inches deep. Now I was two houses away and the detector was still unstable. But, when a dog came running up to us barking like crazy, it stopped just short of us. The guy I was helping told me there was a underground dog fence at the house between our properties. He asked him to turn it off and problem solved. I have also hunted an old school with a cell tower 200 yards away. Every one of my detectors worked perfectly in this spot. I took my new to me Omega(a fine detector by the way) there and it was all but unusable. Hopefully you can find the problem and enjoy your detector.
 
why don't you swap with your bud and see if his is the same and see if he has issues with yours.the Deus is not a quiet machine.
 
Only time I ever had issues like you are describing is when my ground balance is set to low.

Here's a little story that I can relate to you with. When I started detecting ,A friend and I ordered 2 Explorer XS's in 2001 from
that place in Flordia. I got my machine and the Screen jumped all over the place and controls would not function. So it was replaced
by them with another unit which was fine by me. So I receive the 2nd one and after 20 minutes of running it would go BONKERS.
So I called them up all frustrated and mad. So I sent back the 2nd one and JW over there confirmed the 2nd machine was junk.
So he sent me a 3rd one and I told him the Ol' saying 3rd one is the CHARM. Well it was and that XS was the deepest and best
machine I ever had and I've used plenty. After a few years I wanted the EXPL. 2. So I sold my XS and I regret it to this day as
that machine was just HOT! So my advice to you is Good thing come to people who wait. So DO NOT give up on the DEUS,
Hang in there and get this all resolved with your contacts as you have a warranty and I promise you when you get a Good One
(DEUS) you will never LOOK Back on this and you will be HUNTING with the BEST out there.... GOOD LUCK and I understand

P.S. Someone commented on Serial #'s which is a great point as my first 2 units were very close in numbers
and I requested a machine with a different Batch #. Hope this helps you out...
 
Did not know your buddy had a Deus too with no issues. So you have tried almost if not all that has been suggested here. I assume you also took your Deus away and I mean away like maybe the next town or county over to see if it acts same way????

You don't have like any metal in your body from surgeries have you????? Just a long shot but makes me wonder!

never said that. I have a friend who I am currently hunting with in Va who has a deus. Yes. When I was transferring from TN to here, No I didn't. Also my friend is a CWO3 in the marines. He isn't always there to help me try things that people on forums request.

Thank you for the input. I have tried manual, pumping and tracking. I have had it lowered and ran on factory setting
