Got a coil question?????????????

OK I have a Explorer SE it has the stock 10in slimline coil, I don't really have alot of complaints on this coil but what I want to do is get a lighter coil that has better separation with out sacrificing alot of depth. So what would be the best coil for me to get I will be coin and relic hunting and want a coil that will be good for both.

The Pro Coil separates a bit better and is a it lighter (but after 10 minutes, it's heavy again) ;)

I personally think that the Stock E2 coil is much better than the Slimline and pretty darn close to performance as the pro Coil. I compared a lot of in-ground targets b/wn the Pro and the E2 coil and they both saw every target. But I use and prefer the Pro Coil for turf hunting. I like the Stock E2 coil for relic hunting. I think it is a beefier coil and handles the bumps better without falsing. I found that the Pro Coil likes to false a bit when bumping into sticks and trees etc while relic hunting.

Just my two cents.

The stock E2 coil is my favorite, but I have used the pro coil and it does a great job along with feeling like there is nothing on the end of the shaft. It really is light weight and performs great. I did notice a difference in the tones on my explorer2 when I used it. I have used a variety of coils and I prefer Minelab coils. Each one has something different to offer. I bought one of the first 14 inch exelerator coils that came out. It was a great coil. my first coin with it was a seated dime at 14 inches. It would pick nickles like no body's business. I also have a 12 inch sunray that will pick dimes on edge deeper than you will believe. i have a 10 X 12 S.E.F. that gets depth that I just can not even comment on. But last week end I used the Minelab 8 inch and really kicked butt. If you are looking for a different coil consider the fact that the stock coil is matched to that machine and will work better than anything you buy. if you have the money go ahead and try some new things . but in the end you will always come back to your stock coil. just my 2 cents worth.

Hey Tenn, Go to this site to check out coil info. You'll find allot of coils aren't what you think they are. Check out all the headings on the pg. to find all the test results.
