Got a few goodies today with the f75

Been a while since I found an old place to hunt. The property I hunted was previously 3 separate houses in a small town. I spoke with my step mother about the properties, and she said to go ahead and hunt them. Fema had bought out the houses due to flooding. The property is now owned by the city. My step mother used to be the major of this town, and is well respected(or feared). I went out all day and had a great time. Got to be about 4 o'clock and I was about to pack it up when I had a lady approach me asking me what I was doing and if I had gotten permission to be hunting the properties. I told her yes, and gave my step mother's name to her, and the lady became very insistent that I needed approval from the CITY COUNCIL.:ban: I did not argue with her about it, but rather just said OK and inquired who she was. I called my step mother and told her about my run in, and she insured me that there is no CITY ordinance against metal detecting. (My step mother also served on the CITY COUNCIL, and her daughter currently serves on the CITY COUNCIL)
I guess some people don't know what else to do in a small town, so they like to get into other people's business.

Well, even if I don't return, I think I recovered more than my fair share. Glad that lady showed up at the end of my hunt, not the beginning:thumbup:

11 wheaties, 1 1902 silver quarter, 1 1906 silver half, 3 V nickles, 1 Indian head penny, 1 silver ring, 1 good for 5cents trade token, pocket knife & clad change

*I did a few live dig videos today, but I haven't uploaded them yet. I will post them as soon as I get a chance. I think I only got the 1902 Quarter in a live dig though.

That is some good digging and that spot needs some further attention. Don't walk away from it! Nice finds! HH jim tn

WOW! That's a super good hunt right there RONHOB, I'm with Jim on getting back in there and getting some more goodies. Good hunting places like that are rare as you know.

Nice finds and nice to have influential permission, I would be making plans to go back, -----------------after1--------------

Great hunt! It is sad that now days people have to put their noses where they do not belong. would make a return visit!

With finds like that I'd go back again and again. Get yourself a written and signed letter from your step mom and her daughter if you can.

The first video is of the property when I got there at around 7:45 a.m.
The second is a live dig of the 1902 Quarter.
I know there will be a few that think I should not have had a lesche shovel at the site. You may be right. That may very well be the reason that lady was bothered by my being there. Who knows:shrug:
I generally don't take a shovel to a city park, but somehow this city property didn't seem a place I would need to worry about it. It is not as if the city has started reconstructing a project here. There is nothing like a picnic area or what have ya. Just plain old empty lots with more weeds and crabgrass than lawn.
*In the 1st video, you can see the lady's house at the back of the properties.
I might just go through the CITY COUNCIL and get a silly paper, just to smite that woman.
I know I got the majority of good (easy)targets out, but I can find many more goodies by being more methodical and digging all the bouncy, jumpy, and iffy responses.
I will sit down with my step mother(likely over thanksgiving dinner) and decide my coarse of action for next year. By then another couple lots may come available.

Having someone of influence that you know well in the city council is a godsend. I wish I knew someone like that. It might open doors to many interesting places. Doors that would remain shut otherwise.
