Got gold in the scoop today...

Well-known member
I hooked up with my buddy today and talked him into going to a local swimming lake with me to beat the heat.
Finds on my end were slow, but I did find a 10 karat gold pendant.
It is marked 10K and then has the initials" THL". Is this the makers mark or does it mean that this is not solid 10 karat.
Also got a surprise when I got home and checked the ring I found.. I thought it was a junker, but it turned out to be silver.. cleaned up nice too!!
Sure was nice to get out in the water today and escape from the heat.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Hey nice finds there

The water is your friend in the summer time...drink alot also!!! nice finds!! Good Luck HH.. stay cool!

The only gold abriviations I know are:

HGE Heavy Gold Electroplate
GF Gold Filled
Gold Overlay
KP Karat Plate
RGP Rolled Gold Plate

Probably more but those are the ones I remember and have seen. Its probbly the makers initials.

You did good.

Thanks scubadetector,
I was wondering what the initials were.. probably like you say..maker initials.
Looks like I got my first gold item.. it's official.
Thanks again,
Felix

Merlin, I can see where the rain would be a disadvantage for beach hunting, but for land hunting that wet ground should give you more depth. You can go over spots that have been hit many times before when the ground was dryer, and now hear those deep signals that were missed in the past. Especially with all the history you have over there, you might make some old and great finds in that ground. What make and model of detector (s) are you using?
