As I have stated, I left my 11" BiAxial DD coil on a spare lower rod to quickly change over when I need it in more open areas. The round 5" DD stays mounted most of the time because it is just a killer when workign in the trash-infested sites!morelic55 said:Forgot to mention, I''l be using the 11" Biaxial coil for my test.
Yes, it really does. Honestly, I have relied on the White's MXT for several years and now the Teknetics Omega for a lot of the sites I hunt where 'separation' is of prime importance. They both do just fine for general hunting, but when it really gets challenging, the new G2 stepped up to tackle the job.morelic55 said:Yea,Monte I've used alot of detectors and the new "G" series of First Texas has really opened up alot of old spots where separation is the key.
I am sure I'm not alone in wondering what you usually use for deep-coin hunting? No harm mentioning it here unless there is a battle over brands. Heck, I like the T2 for what it can do, and have considered picking up an F-75 as a replacement. In some locations they can get a bit noisy, but I've come to live with it using a lot of detectors. In the past 16 years, almost 17 now, the White's XLT has provided a lot of good targets for me, but the XL Pro was what I used for 'deep coin' hunting. I actually liked it better than the Minelab Explorers I owned (all 6 of them).morelic55 said:I use another brand of detector for the deep targets, as the GB has not found anything past the 8" level. I have really tried to like the T-2 and F series detectors, but I just can't stand to "Work The Noise" or push the high gain of them..........MO
I owned an X-Terra 70 a few years ago and it wasn't that bad a detector, but I didn't use the 10morelic55 said:Well Monte, I have run the course as far as detectors and have found the Xterra 70 with the 10.5 DD coils is by far, in MY area the deepest running machine I have ever used. No EMI problems and I use full sens all the time and consistently dig relics, mostly bullets & buttons at 10" or more.

The 'Prospecting' All metal function is different, but the button-selected All Metal is simply a "pattern mode" without rejection. Just motion Disc. w/o discriminating.morelic55 said:Quote: Also, the X-Terra's have a delayed response that annoys me.
Were you in all metal or pattern mode? Pattern modes do have a nulling effect and are slower.
I figured you were at the 7.5 kHz frequency as that was the one I found to work the best on the X-Terra 70. I didn't like to use the tracking function as too many of the sites I hunt have 'hot rocks' (both hot and cold), but also a lot of iron junk and the tracking circuitry shifts to it too easily.morelic55 said:Quote: What settings did you use on the X-Terra 70 at the time in the video, and which operating frequency were you using?
I was using all metal 2 tone, sens 28, auto trac and the 10.5DD 7.5 kHz coil.
I used the 10" Excelerator coil on my 3rd to 5th MXT's a good deal and did get the coverage but not the depth I anticipated. The 12" concentric beats it.morelic55 said:The Tejon had the 8x9 stock coil and the MXT had the 10" Excellerator DD coil on it.
What can I say other than the challenges of different soils. Here in NW Oregon and most of the sites I hunt in Oregon, Nevada and Utah, I deal with a Ground Phase read-out from 77 to 85 on an MXT, and other models from Teknetics show they have a higher Fe[sub]3[/sub]O[sub]4[/sub] make-up as well. Still, while I do feel the weight of the 12" after a while, I have been able to get good depth out of it when relic hunting more open fields and such that are low on target masking signals.morelic55 said:Quote: I have used an MXT w/12" coil and hit on similar-size lead and other desired finds similar to the depth in your photo.
I too have used the MXT with a Super 12 coil, but the concentric coils don't have the depth in our soil.
