Got My G2 Today.........

Gonna go to the field tomorrow I hope and do a head to head with my GBSE. Added a little camo "Vet Wrap" and the FX-1 Probe works great.....

Be sure to post how you go on M. Have just got an GBSE myself but it is still in the box due to work work and more work.
Mighht get a chance to try it out this weekend, i hope.

Tests in my test area show that it walks the same & quacks the same. All the features are the same as the version 29 GBSE or the Gold Bug Pro version 3. I think it's great the the inline probe will work on either one. I tried a buddys Omega stock coil on the GBSE and it did not like it. Hopefuly the G2 will be just as good or better in the iron infested worked out camps that I have started to go back to. This is the last time out with the GBSE. Gotta dig those high iron tones, almost walked away from the 1854 Austrian bayonet!!!!!................MO

Forgot to mention, I''l be using the 11" Biaxial coil for my test. Yea,Monte I've used alot of detectors and the new ""G" series of First Texas has really opened up alot of old spots where separation is the key. I use another brand of detector for the deep targets, as the GB has not found anything past the 8" level. I have really tried to like the T-2 and F series detectors, but I just can't stand to "Work The Noise" or push the high gain of them..........MO

As I have stated, I left my 11" BiAxial DD coil on a spare lower rod to quickly change over when I need it in more open areas. The round 5" DD stays mounted most of the time because it is just a killer when workign in the trash-infested sites!

Yes, it really does. Honestly, I have relied on the White's MXT for several years and now the Teknetics Omega for a lot of the sites I hunt where 'separation' is of prime importance. They both do just fine for general hunting, but when it really gets challenging, the new G2 stepped up to tackle the job.

I am sure I'm not alone in wondering what you usually use for deep-coin hunting? No harm mentioning it here unless there is a battle over brands. Heck, I like the T2 for what it can do, and have considered picking up an F-75 as a replacement. In some locations they can get a bit noisy, but I've come to live with it using a lot of detectors. In the past 16 years, almost 17 now, the White's XLT has provided a lot of good targets for me, but the XL Pro was what I used for 'deep coin' hunting. I actually liked it better than the Minelab Explorers I owned (all 6 of them).

This year I've actually done rather well with the Teknetics Omega and T2 finding some deeper coins, and actually prefer the Omega over the T2 for several reasons. Now, with the G2 out and sharing coils with the Omega, it provides me a lot more versatility. Might just add an F-75 next year, unless we see some new entries by spring.

It's a drencher around here this week and the week to come, but when it quites I know I'll get out hunting again. I trust you have useable weather.

Well Monte, I have run the course as far as detectors and have found the Xterra 70 with the 10.5 DD coils is by far, in MY area the deepest running machine I have ever used. No EMI problems and I use full sens all the time and consistently dig relics, mostly bullets & buttons at 10" or more. In this pic, a Tejon and a MXT could not even pick up the target, a .69cal 3 ring minie. Oh, I rarely hunt for coins, unless I run across one in a CW Campsite.......MO

I owned an X-Terra 70 a few years ago and it wasn't that bad a detector, but I didn't use the 10

Mo you took the words out if my mouth, I tried and double tried with the F75 but the noise was just plain making the "Detecting Experience" much less enjoyable, just a personel thing but i felt batterd at the end of a full session.

Hopefully problem now solved.

You are going to love this machine. I have been out 3 times and have done pretty well at pounded out sites. It runs smooth! Last time out Sensitivity was set at 97-100 great depth and this is a fun machine to use. Ground is frozen up here so unless we get a real warm up I won't be able to hunt until next spring. Will try to post what I found last week but have been real busy. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this Killer Machine!

Yes, it is a way to protect it from dirt and scratches. Also adds more padding to the grip............

morelic, whats with the camo wrap? Does it keep your md from ware and tare? thanks.

Quote: Also, the X-Terra's have a delayed response that annoys me.

Were you in all metal or pattern mode? Pattern modes do have a nulling effect and are slower.

Quote: What settings did you use on the X-Terra 70 at the time in the video, and which operating frequency were you using?

I was using all metal 2 tone, sens 28, auto trac and the 10.5DD 7.5 kHz coil

The Tejon had the 8x9 stock coil and the MXT had the 10" Excellerator DD coil on it

Quote: I have used an MXT w/12" coil and hit on similar-size lead and other desired finds similar to the depth in your photo.

I too have used the MXT with a Super 12 coil, but the concentric coils don't have the depth in our soil.

The 'Prospecting' All metal function is different, but the button-selected All Metal is simply a "pattern mode" without rejection. Just motion Disc. w/o discriminating.

I figured you were at the 7.5 kHz frequency as that was the one I found to work the best on the X-Terra 70. I didn't like to use the tracking function as too many of the sites I hunt have 'hot rocks' (both hot and cold), but also a lot of iron junk and the tracking circuitry shifts to it too easily.

I used the 10" Excelerator coil on my 3rd to 5th MXT's a good deal and did get the coverage but not the depth I anticipated. The 12" concentric beats it.

What can I say other than the challenges of different soils. Here in NW Oregon and most of the sites I hunt in Oregon, Nevada and Utah, I deal with a Ground Phase read-out from 77 to 85 on an MXT, and other models from Teknetics show they have a higher Fe[sub]3[/sub]O[sub]4[/sub] make-up as well. Still, while I do feel the weight of the 12" after a while, I have been able to get good depth out of it when relic hunting more open fields and such that are low on target masking signals.

Thanks for replying.
