Got my wheaties, played some polo, and got a hair cut too!

Had two hours to spare this afternoon so I went back to the 1800's house where I got 3 wheats last time. I got one wheat shortly into the hunt. the a half hour later another one. Then it seemed like there was nothing else to be had. I thought to myself, I am going to find one more wheat so I will have had 3 hunts in a row with 3 wheats! Well I did find another one, then two in one hole, then another one, then another two in one hole! I kept wondering, where is all the silver!
Then I found a neat heavy copper emblem of sorts with three men on horses playing polo. It appears to be old, and was attached to something at one time.
As I was heading to the truck, you know how you tell yourself just one more good target! Well I got one right in front of the truck. I got the dirt out of the hole, then some more and then it was out. I was fishing through the dirt and found a little clod the size of a big marble and the tone was in it. I carefully broke the dirt free from one side to see silver looking back at me! WOOOO HOOOO!!!!! My first Barber dime of the year! 1908 D in very nice shape! A good coin to quit on! :)

Group shot.

Back - Looks like maybe a die crack in the middle? I didn't scratch it.

That "one more good target feeling" really paid off.
Congrats

I'll have to power up my camera for a macro shot of mine. Just had the phone with me this morning. That's in nice shape!

What a rewarding find! Anything over 100 is unusual. Neat copper plate - maybe roll some printing ink or paint over it and lay paper over it for a print. Newspaper pages that have big spaces of no print are good for making a print. steve in so az

Great going, me son, and I was gonna tell you that wheaties make you strong, playing polo toughens ya up, but getting a hair cut just might take your strength away....Remember Samson and Delilah and then I read your post and they were all finds! Congrats on the Barber Dime....I guess you are feeling your OATS now and want ta go again soon! God Bless! Betty

Nice finds Mike. When I read you played some polo, I got to thinkin' you might be high falutin, or stuck up.:wiggle: Glad I read on into the post. Really though, those are great finds. Maybe you can teach me some of your tricks. The reverse of the Barber doesn't appear to be a die crack, as if it were the space in between the o and n would more than likely be cracked too. Probably some foreign object has contacted it, but I could be wrong. Oh I have not tried emailing you again, but will here shortly. How deep do you think my Garrett ADS III goes? Just curious.

I figured it wasn't a die crack, but thought it might be a defect? The more I look it must have had contact. As you get to know me, you will find I am always willing to do some teaching. Not sure but most coins are found within 6". I am sure you can grab one at that depth, but some of the deepies escape most machines.

man thems some killer short hunts
