I get stuck on coils and efficiency. So I've been keen to use my Cleansweep coil as often as possible, which in turn handicaps me by what detectors can be used with it. But because I like that coil I tend to use detectors that operate with that coil more than any of my others, including my F5. Yesterday I started out with that coil and detector but the batteries died shortly into my hunt time and I had no desire to go spend money on batteries. So I ran home and grabbed a detector bag that I thought had the ETPro in it. When I got on site, it turned out that the bag contained my F5 w/11 DD coil, which left me scratching my head a little as I normally keep my F5 in a hard case. Then I remembered why it was there.....which is another story.
Anyway, it had been awhile since I had hunted the F5. It sure was nice to detect with it again. Made me wonder why in the world I spend so much time with other detectors when I enjoy using this one so much. Didn't find anything spectacular, just battery money and a pretty little silver ring with a dragon fly crown that had some little fire opal embedded it its wings that fooled me. It rang up as a 44, which I relate to a mans plain gold wedding band, but instead of seeing gold winking back at me from the ground I see a glint of silver. Had another ring hit at 75 and I'm thinking silver again but the ring was too big for the ID number and turned out to be copper. Dirt was taking the silver finish off of it but it has a big purple cut stone in it that I don't think is glass. I don't find plated copper rings that often and the stone was a good size. Maybe it is an antique?
I left the F5 out behind the door so it will be easier to grab it again next time.
Someday I'll get a Cleansweep type coil for my F5. Man! That would be the bomb.
I need a new pinpointer. I sold my Uniprobes and I spent too much time recovering targets. Something quiet that doesn't draw dogs, people or kids.
