Got out for a few hours today and got a big ol' honkin' piece of silver:surprised:

Met up with forum members Crowduck (G-Money)...and JohnDeerDigger (JDD) at a couple of pounded parks we hunt.

They were both kind enough to drive over 2 hours to hunt with me because they know my dad is not well...and my driving limit to hunt is about 1 hour.

I'm tired...it's been a long day...and I have to work a 10 hour shift tomorrow...so this post will be short and sweet....especially since I only found two coins in 4 hours:bouncy:

The merc was a two way hit on edge at about 6"...which sounded like iron...but had that sweet spot to it...so I took a chance.

The shocker of the day was the monster Sterling silver/coral/mother of pearl necklace pendant which weighs a whopping 31 grams :thumbup:and has the sweet bearclaw in it:yikes:

That thing was over 11" deep and had a big clod of smelted metal right in the hole with it.:)

You talk about a jumbled up mess of a sound to go for:stars:...but I gave the iffy hit the nod because it sounded between an injun and a wheatie...and would tip to silver every so often.

I first found the clod of metal with the probe...but after removing the clod...bingo...it sang again about another 3" deeper.

The hole kept filling up with water...and I kept slopping it out as fast as it kept pouring in.:smoke:

I finally stuck my hand deep in the muck and plucked out a big pile of slop. Then is when I saw the big chunk of silver.:surprised:

It cleaned up nicely. Sure would've like to have found the big silver chain it was probably hangin' from:biggrin:

I took an extra scan of it above the coins to show how huge it really is:)

Oh well...what a fun day.

JDD and G-Money each got a merc and a wheatie too...so it was a good day all around.

Thanks for viewing and good luck on your next hunt.

NICE HUNT GUYS, BRYCE THAT PENDANT LOOKS HUGE I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT AWESOME FIND

Great finds Bryce, nice!

You said it sounded something between an injun and a wheat, I'm new to the SE and have found wheats, but have no idea what
an indian head penny sounds like. I air tested a bronze mexican centavos over my coil and the sound was very high and the readings
were sky high, 00-31, the target cursor was buried in the upper right hand corner of the screen, but I've read that an IH's digits is like
05-25------- so what should I be looking for, know I have a lot to learn, but am hoping you can tell me more or less how an IH might signal.

Good luck,
HH.

It's really an eye catcher also! Very nice piece to add to the ole collection. Congrats on the few finds that you and the others made. That piece of Jewelery is AWESOME!:super: Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

No doubt who made the cha.. ching there Bryce. Thats got to be worth a pertty penny. Nice digs... Martness... did you reduce sensitivity before you scaned the coin? About the only thing i get in the field at 00-31 are hot rocks. Those IH's get really cruddy and can fall all over the scale depending how deep they are. I find a good many of mine at 07-25 or 26... yep screw cap digital numbers.

That's a beautiful piece of jewelry! It has great detail, especially the leaves and the little beads and the stonework. I wonder if it was a brooch or pin and not a pendant. Any idea of the era it is is from? Congratulations on a great find - sounds like most people would have passed over it. You really know your machine. Happy hunting!

a clip on the back at the top where it was to be slid over the chain...then clipped down. It is still intact so I assume the chain broke...or the clip wasn't completely locked down...which is why it was lost...darn it:biggrin:

Sweeet find Bryce......that broach/pendant is awesome!!!
Congrats on the silver and the other finds also. Keep up
the good posts......enjoy reading them. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

Thanks Neal. I wish I could obtain some of your injun' findin' knowledge and skill my friend.
Brother...you find some nice ones.

Thanks Dew. I think the bearclaw alone is probably worth $100 or so.

It's so cool looking though...that I truthfully don't care what it's worth. It's just so heavy and neat looking.

Take care buddy

Thanks James. It will look pretty sweet in a display case with a few of my other non coin finds.

I would like to make something like that sometime...with a few of the oddball things I find from time to time.

Take care my friend

that the sound also mimics little pieces of wire on many of them:stars:

I don't hunt with the digital screen.....I use the smartfind screen because I like to watch the movement of the cursor on possible Injun' hits.

Sometimes it is a textbook hit lower than a wheat cent...but higher than a pulltab...and the cursor stays pretty much on the right edge of the screen about 2/3 of the way to the top.

Other times though the sound will vary quite a bit depending on patina...corrosion...etc....but for the most part the sound is usually a lower tone than a penny.

Injuns' can pretty much hit anywhere on the right hand side of the screen in smartfind mode.

I think JamesND...NealNoIn..and niterider_58 hunt in digital...and maybe they can help you out too.

Dewcon also gave you a nice response as well.

you would have been right at home traipsing through the muck yesterday.

What a blast...trying to dig a hole while the floodgates poured in on it:clapping:

Good thing I only had about 6 signals all freakin' day:smoke:

I am wondering if it was meant for a "Bolo Tie" Love the Bear Claw.
