Got out with the 6x8 SEF today.

Wish I had some pictures to post, but my camera battery is charging.

Got a nice gilt button with most of the gilt still on it. made by benedict & burnham, apparently c. 1830's-1840's.
It was directly underneath a large rusty nail and gave me a mixed tone.

Also managed an1863 fatty indian. (only my 3rd or 4th copper nickel indian).
Basically been digging all the low conductor stuff lately, and it's been paying off with a flying eagle and now this.

I'm pretty happy with it so far. Man is this yard loaded with nails though. Even with the 6x8 I'm having to fight my way through some parts of it.

Also
The other day I started hitting a new field I hadn't tried before and got VERY small 1-piece button, just a hair over 0.4" in diameter
Has the shank intact and a design on the front. Might have been gilt at one point, since the partial backmark I can see says something about "orange colour" (all I can see is the "ange" in orange) Got what I think is another one about the same size without that shank.

Nice! I've only gotten one fatty so far and the flying eagle is still on my wish list. (Missed that post, I think.) I've been thinking about picking up the 8x6 SEF. What do you think of it so far?
