Got Pictures of Your Favorite Diggers/SandScoops?

Teach

Well the title pretty much sums it up. What is it that you like most about the type of digger/scoop that you have and why? Pics? Thanks

Teach....

No need to spend big $$$$.. Instead of paying $$$ for a fancy digger, I went to
Home Depot and bought a gardening shovel for about $5-6 or so.. It's one
piece and will never break, unlike the one I got with the machine. It's puny
stem broke after about 3 hours of use..
You'll never break that orange handled job..
But I actually rarely use that. 98% of the time I use just the blue handled
screwdriver probe. It's a Home Depot screwdriver that I ground the tip down
and polished up to be smooth. That way it doesn't scratch coins much.
The pushrod is a backup probe, and what I used before I made the blue one.
The wood shovel I rarely use, but keep it for grins in case of a deep hole.
It's stem is not too strong, and it won't take much abuse..
But it was only one dollar at the dollar store, so what the heck.. :/
Also have the machete in case of thick vines, brush or what not.
Could also take the head off a snake in a pinch, but it's not too long for
that type of use.. A large snake could bite that far.. :(
I do less lawn damage using the probe vs the digger.. I'll only whip the
digger out if something is really deep or large.
It does have a handy ruler on it for measuring depth.. :)

:usaflag:Have'nt been able to break it yet.....great digger.

John, who makes your monster sand scoop? Looks like it would work well in the water. Saves having to tow a floating screen behind ya.

Pretty much all of my hunting has been in or around sandy places like the beach etc. I need to find someone local who can show me the finer points on how to dig on turf and not leave any sign that I was there and hopefully retrieve the treasure too hehe. So I'm not familiar really with the use of probes. Thanks for the pic though that was great. You also John! Thanks

Anybody else?

I have a pvc hand scoop I made years ago that has served me very well but it is starting to show its years and I have to bend over all the time to use it. I'm making a longer handled scoop for sand that I am going to try out here soon. I will let you know how it turns out.

Mike from MI (Michigan). I like it, because I usually use my Garrett Infinium PI and it gets targets real deep. I was getting tired of always digging 2-3 x with my other smaller sand scoop, so I ordered this one. I set Mike an Email for his email adress, in case you want to get a quote for one.

It's heavy.....but you build up good muscles using it regularly and using good body mechanics makes it easier to use.

Here are some pics of my digger. The Ace 250's trusty companion It's my favorite becuase i made it myself it still needs a handle grip and a little paint for rust prevention.
I have not used it yet becuase i have been doing beaches, using a self made scoop as well.I have no pics of the scoop yet. It has a magnet close to the tip for those trouble some nails.
The third pic is of staggered teeth for cutting roots and the last is to be sharpened to a straight edge.

The last time I saw a harpoon that large was in the Moby Dick movie with Gregory Peck playing the deranged captain. lol Those teeth look like carbide teeth on a saw blade. Bet that thing cuts right through hard ground and tree roots.
