Got the "info " on the Winchester shell...practically in my "back yard"

Winchester rifles were manufactured in the late 1800's at a company know as Volcanic Repeating Arms Co. .( some kind of "volcanic" action like in the Smith and Wesson guns . sorry, I know nothing about guns so can't add anything further on that...anyway...

One of its major investors /stockholders was a man named Oliver Winchester . He went on to become director of the company; moved it to New Haven Ct. form Norwich Ct. then its President; he changed the name to "New Haven Arms" ..which is located on Winchester Ave, New Haven , Ct.

I'm in New Haven often as I live only a few miles from that city. and I remembered that there was a "Winchester arms connection somewhere...now it's coming back to me..

At first , I thought that the "New...was part of "New Britain", another large city in Ct., but that city was the site of manufacturing the Colt 45. there is a hugh public park "Colt Park" named of course..after that gun.

Hope this information has helped you

WOW! You sure are a history buff! Thanks for the info on Oliver Winchester and the Winchester Rifle! Interesting because I know nothing about guns either.....just know they shoot, kill and also protect, especially in the 1800's when life was more difficult!

God Bless!

Winchester Repeating Arms sorta evolved from the Henry repeating rifle (.44 caliber rimfire) right after the Civil War. "The gun that won the West" was a Winchester repeating rifle. I think the sales hype was "load it on Monday and shoot it 'till Sunday." They played an important role in the western frontier after the Civil War. (Henry's were used during the CW, mainly US, but a few CS had them) Not sure what you found as I am only viewing this thread, but any vintage cartridge, case or bullet is a nice find.
Good hunting,

Am thinking; Are we living in the old west again? I think some of our streets are more dangerous now than Deadwood or Dodge City in the old days. Pa used to keep a shotgun under the store counter, but now Ma keeps a 9mm Glock under her skirt. Go gettum Grandma!

Yes, David, I too think we are back in the old west days and need to protect ourselves but most of all we need to put on the armor of God and pray that He will keep us surrounded with His angels who are our guardian angels! Some are huge and carry large swords......do not mess with them! But we also need to help by praying and living the way He wants us to do and to help ourselves by standing up for what is right! We do all we can do and then stand, be still and let God do it! Isn't He wonderful???

God Bless!

Well David, if you could see them, you would be surprised to see how many there are!! There would be too many for you or me to count! :)

There is a verse in the Old Testament when a battle was going on that God opened the eyes of one of them to see all the angels! Will try to find it and post it on this forum!

God Bless!
