Ran home between work all excited ups delivered the new Deleon. I put the batteries in and turned it on and it read tesoro-Deleon-disc but no sound or readings over the test coins??????? Humm put in all metal no noise but said AM then checked battery shows 8 bars. Took out batteries looked good - to - +to+ all good tried different coils same thing. Called dealer then called factory and spoke to Rusty and he said try new batteries. Did that turned it on in the back of car it had noise yaaa thought it was all good. Went to a area to test it now it justs goes wacky if to touch any of the knobs it goes crazy in both disk and AM. Called back Rusty he said I could open it myself look for an obvious issue loose wire but it's new so I'll just send it in. And my other ? was do the Deleons come with coil covers and he said they do not but it will have one on it when I get it back . It stinks it's DOA but Tesoros service was awesome called and spoke to Rusty right away that says a lot about a company.

Rusty is great to deal with.

Stuff happens. It's how it's handled that speaks volumes. Don't let this get you down. I will be worth the wait.

A company should not be judged solely on whether there are occasional issues with their machines, but rather by how they deal with the problems when they arise.
Tesoro, and Rusty especially, take care of their customers.
To point, ML, Whites, and most recently Fisher have all had issues with their lastest machines.
Come to think of it there have been several major automobile recalls recently too.
Things happen. In and of itself a product problem does not define a company.
Cheers

It's possible somewhere along the route it was seriously mishandled by UPS and something got jarred loose. One thing is for sure Tesoro will take care of you.

Yes I judge a company on its customer service and so far I'm very happy with them. I have had some of the top detectors from the other manufactures and any issues I had or questions they were all great so far. So I'm in no way concerned this issue won't be fixed ASAP and I knew I made the right decision to trade back a used Outlaw for the new DeLeon with a lifetime warranty. It's nice to save a little on a used one but it's nicer to have the warranty if ever needed.

...so much for quality control, eh?

They have excellent quality control. Probably something simple like a loose wire like Rusty said. There are a bunch of wires inside, just takes one to
jar loose. It's not hard to take out two screws, gently pull the faceplate forward a bit and look for a wire that's not connected. Since the unit was functioning at Tesoro otherwise they couldn't calibrate it.............., the problem happened during shipping. Tesoros are pretty robust, that's more than I can say about other brands............

I might just do that after work tonight and see if it's just that a loose wire being Rusty said I could can't hurt.

Yeah I would check it out if I were you to save on the cost of shipping it. Let us know if you fix it yourself or not.

Well all my electronic tech skills from the Navy came into play tonight. I took the 4 face plate screws out and pulled out the front board and rear board gently and a ton of wires...a lot of stuff for such a small case. With it all out the detector it was working great . Nothing broken or loose wires. I put it all back in and it stopped working again??? So I took it all back out and really looked it over nothing looks bad. I know something is pinching or touching to cause this so I repositioned the 2 very large plastic plugs to disconnect the batteries and the speaker and they fit further back in the case put it all back and damn it works great now. If it gives me any more issues I'll just send it in. I did some testing and silver, coins were spot on gold was al over the place. And this is the only detector I ever used that didn't hit hard on bottle caps even on iron in disc it was choppy which is a good thing I think. Looks good so far I can't wait to field test.

Glad you got it working good luck on your hunts with it!

I'm glad you got it working! Rest assured though, if you hadn't, Tesoro would have taken great and quick care of you.
