Great day hunting...and a first for me..........

Went out with Steve to my wife's cousin farm, which was built in 1878, around a one room red brick house. My first find was an 1888 canadian dime. It was about 4 inches deep. Then I found 3 wheats and 2 mercs in the same hole, at about 7 inches. The wheats were 1956, 1925, and unreadable so far on the third one. Then I found my first a 1954 Franklin half at about 2 inches, and yes I scratched it. My last silver was a 1949 rose. The two mercs were 1920, and 1926 well worn.
Then I found the two items on the right. The top right item I do not know what it is. Has any one ever scene or found anything like it. Looks to be some sort of pin. The backing was gone. This was a fantastic day. Hope everyone was able to get out and hunt.

Big silver is always nice to see in the hole isn't it?

The item on the lower right is what is left of a key tag, these had you car licence number on them on the other side. They look like miniature licence plates and if you lost them you could drop them in the mail box and they would go to the Disabled Veterans who would mail them to you being they knew who the licence number was. Now these were made and sent to everyone they got the number from the state licence dept and the Disabled Veterans were looking for a donation, so if you donated and lost your keys with the tag on them you would get your keys back. Too bad the licence number and year is not on it or you may be able to trace the owner.

Nice finds Tomjj! I myself am still looking to find my first Franklin Half. WTG!!! HH.
