Great day!

Great day with my AT Pro. A guy from work wanted me to locate his lot markers. I have been detecting at his house before but the grass was always so long. Jokiingly I told him I would only look if he cut his grass so I could detect the yard again. He agreed. My first signal I dug was a 1889 indainhead, then alot of junk The next coin was a 1935 wheat. Then some more trash. I was digging pretty much everything that would even hint as a coin signal. I then got a 1902 indainhead, a 54 wheat, 62 lincon and a clad dime. I was starting to get a little picker about what i dug it was getting hot. I then got a in part of the yard I haven't detected and got a sweet 81 -82 at about 6 inches when i fliped the plug I saw a silver rim and it was a 1901 barber dime. WOW filled in the hole and a foot from the hole I got a really broke up signal it was 78- to 85 and I could not get the signal from one direction I dug anyway and out popped a 1903 barber dime. I found only 8 coins and dug 23 pieces of junk but man what a day.

Awesome hunt and finds! Congrats!! He needs to mow more often.

Congrats not your everday finds.

Very nice! Love those Barber coins!

Or did you tell him you have to come back and have another go...tell him he didn't mow short enough!
Mud

Yeah, do what Mud said, tell him to mow even shorter next time, and then invite your buddy Stilpony along! :twodetecting:

Great finds, buddy! I still have yet to find an IH, but I keep hoping!!!

Let's go detecting soon!

Being a good neighbor pays off both ways, assuming you found his property markers. Great finds on those coins.

I only found one of the missing 3 markers. thanks for all the nice posts. There is alot of undetected ground there yet. So hopefully I can have anouther great day in the furture.

Okay, yes sir! you did a great job and had a good day! :clapping:
They are beautiful these indianhead
I do not understand everything but I like jokes and good spirit of colleagues that are here.
best regards

Grat finds, I'll bet those got you heart pumping!! Having worked as a surveyor for 40 years, I can tell you that a regular metal detector is not the best tool for locating property pins. One needs to use a magnetic locator, like the ones made by Schoenstadt or Chicago Tape. A property pin can be buried deeper than your detector can reach. A magnetic locator can find them at depths reaching 3 feet. If you found one and you have a plat(map) of the property, then you might be able to get closer taping off the distances and re-checking. The plat will also tell you what was set at the corners. Could be that they used stones or even wood stakes. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Wow, that would get the blood pumping! Barbers are my fav coins to find, I'm jealous lol. PLEASE tell me there is an 's' mint mark on the 1903 Barber dime, it would be worth a pile of money!
