Great Easter hunt :hot:

Have not had a chance to hunt much this year it has either been to cold or that white stuff has been on the ground, but I managed a couple hour hunt Sunday and it was one of the best hunts in a long time. i have been eyeing an empty lot for a few years now and just found out the local college bought it to expand in the future. I have permission to hunt the campus property from the head of maintenance and they just bought a whole block of old houses to demolish and use for the expansion woo hoo. The local weather guesser said it was going to be a warm day mid 50's or so, I got up early and couldn't wait for it to warm a bit before I headed out. About 8:00 am I grabbed my trusty DeLeon and hit the field right of the bat the DeLeon was hitting good targets first couple of signals read high zinc and were wheat pennies dug a few junky signals that turned out to be just that tabs and can slaw. First good silver signal was strong silver at 7" the ground I was hunting in was nice and soft from recent snows and rain, I dug a good sized plug and after making it deeper a couple times out pops a 1942 mercury dime. Boy was I happy to see that. After a few more wheat's I got another real deep signal it read zinc also at 8" once again I dug a good sized plug at over 8 inches down I found my target it was a Indian head penny very well worn and couldn't see the year but boy was I stoked I have found very few of these. I did manage a few more wheat's and a couple more silvers here's the tally
12 wheat pennies
1 1961 Roosevelt dime
1 1942 Washington quarter
1 1942 Mercury dime
and the best of the bunch a
1 1871 Indian head penny there were just under 4 million made so I am very happy

Great hunt phinbolt,

finding an Indian head, some nice silver and a great place to find more, makes for a really nice Easter hunt. The wife and I enjoy your posts, you and the Deleon make a good team:tesoro: My wife got a new Deleon last year and does well with it, the secret is out.
