Great little hand held pinpointer

If you don't want to spend much money or are on a tight budget and need a great little pinpointer, try the one from Harbor Freight. It costs $14.99 and works really good. I bought two a couple of months ago and they have done a fine job. The probe is extra long. Uses one 9 volt battery and you can tune it. For the price you can't beat them. I thought they would be junk, but it has really come in handy. Don't think they are water proof like the Garrett pro-pointer, but again for the price....

Just go to HarborFreight.com and type in metal detectors under subject search. Had mine in hand in about a week or 10 days.

a wonderful member here sent one to my daughter! :) The Garrett one is not waterproof either.

I thought Garrett said that their Pro-Pointer was water proof. For $150.00 it ought to be. Those from Harbor work pretty well. One of mine has a switch problem, but the other one works great. I am going to take the cover off the one and see if it is a loose connection. As long as you are within a 1/2" of the target, it does well. Saves horsing the big detector to keep trying to find the target.

That is the one thing I said when it came out. For that price it should have been water proof like the Vibra-probe.
I use the sunray inline probe.

Checked Garretts website again. They say the pro-pointer is water resistant. They say you can wash it under running water or in the rain. Hope they are not false advertising. I don't plan on getting one anytime soon. I saw one of those in-line pinpointers in action, and it seems to be quite handy to have it connected to the detector. I assume that we are talking about the same kind.

The volume on the speaker was to loud for me and it vibrates also, so I covered the speaker up and go by the vibration more than anything.
