Ground Balance #'s ?

Tired Rooster

New member
I've read in some of the more recent posts talk about GB numbers in relation to which coil type may or may not work the best in a given area. ie (lower GB # may mean DD HF works best. Higher GB# may mean LF coil may be best). Question is...is the GB # being referred to simply the # that is on the screen once the detector is ground balanced? Also......if this is the case, I guess that means that the lower the #, the more mineralized the soil? Thus the higher the # the milder the soil? I know that these type of questions are always popping up. But this is not so much a coil question as it is a question about the GB # that is on the TID screen and what this means about the soil type.

I've found that a combination of low GB numbers along with having to lower SENS to maintain stability, generally means that I'm not seeing as deep as I might with a higher frequency, if it allows me to run my SENS higher.

Thanks BB. I'm reading and rereading alot of this stuff. I'm just really trying to grasp a good understanding of it. I figure that if I can get a better than average understanding it will help my success as I go. Thanks again. (you too Longhair)
