Ground Balancing With the 5" Coil On T2

cx3

New member
I am unable to use the Fast Grab ground balance with the 5" coil I have to switch to all metal and manual ground balance. I can pump the coil forever using fast grab and the detector will not balance. Has anyone else had problems with fast grab and the 5" coil?

I don't have any problem at all. My 5 DD balances the same as the big coil. ----- I just put the T2 in all metal mode, find a clean spot of ground, push the trigger forward, and it usually balances in 4 or pumps. In other words, it should balance exactly the same as the big one. If not, I would guess there's a problem somewhere. Most likely in the coil, assuming the big coil balances properly. -- Dr.D

Today I went to a old home site to hunt and was using the small coil due to the trash, at this site I had no problem ground balancing using fast grab. I guess the level of ground mineralization has an effect on how easy ground balancing occurs. HH

I would try it at another location & then determine if you have a problem.....
I have found that my small coil overloads alot (more than the stock) in iron which is strange & gets kinda annoying. So, instead I have been using the stock coil with 2+ tones more in thick iron instead with excellent success.....That high pitched chirp that sneaks in among the low grunts is killer. Last 2 guys I hunted with want T2's now after seeing me work stuff out of iron that way....
Seems like the high chirp does not extend that deep, but when unmasking in heavy iron usually you don't need crazy depth........

I have been using the T2 in the 2+ tones also, I really like it. It seems less taxing to the ears, gives good target feel, and is easy to interpret. Highly recommend it to those who have not tried it.

which seemingly gets better depth, but as you said is really hard on the eardrums! ;) 2+ definately has it place & has found somethings I couldn't eek out with the 1 & 21 thing I mentioned........
