GT Question

About to purchase the Sovereign GT with the Digital Target Indication Meter and Sun ray S1 Probe. but have few questions,

#1 will this GT work well on Dry beach sand in Southern California.

#2 what coils would be recommended

TIA

Robert from Long Beach ca,

The GT works great on SoCal beaches in dry or wet sand, it is stable and goes fairly deep. A larger coil like a 15" WOT, Sunray S-12 will add some depth and coverage but the stock coil also works very well. I would also look at the 14" or 16.5' Excelerator coils. I have not used one but I have been thinking about trying one. Maybe someone else can give you and opinion on those. The Meter and Probe will help out when hunting inland but not so much on the beach. IMO if it sounds good you should dig it regardless of the meter reading when on the beach.

I too was considering buying a meter for my GT - after a brief discussion with my friendly dealer it became obvious that it would be more of a hindrance to me than a help so I didn't get one.
