GTAx 1000 coil questions

I recently bought a used garrett GTAx 1000 metal detector that had an 8.5" crossfire coil on it. I'm just having a blasdt searching here in western ohio and have no regrets about choosing a garrett. I was thinking about trying to pick up an additional coil for my detector in an auction sometime thinking i may be able to get one pretty cheap this way and had a few questions before i start to look. From the posts i've seen on the forum everyone is very informed and helpful about the garret units and i was wondering...
Could anyone tell me what coils may fit the GTAx 1000? I've had some people tell me that only crossfire coils fit it and not the crossfire II coils. I've also heard that the coils that fit garretts master hunter will fit my GTAx 1000. And others say something about the super sniper 4.5" and the hot head 5.5" coils fitting it.
Any information is greatly appreciated and i thank all in advance for the help.

This unit will accept the "Crossfire" coils (not Crossfire II).
Kellyco also refers to the connector as 'standard'... the newer coils are the 'Barrel' type connector.
At present, I have 5 coils for my old 1000: 4.5", 5.5" ferrett, 8.5", 10.5" Hot Head, and the 12.5".
I've used them all alot, so let me know if you have any specific questions about any of them.
Good Luck,

5.5 hot head for first choice or the 4.5 that i have. I hear the hot head is a little better on depth. After searching an area with my stock 8.5 ,i will make a final pass with the small coil and pull out even more coins. It gets you through the trashy areas and can get close to fences ,playground equipment ,etc. These are the 2 i use the most.
