Got my new GTI 2500 in last week. I've been out twice and I'm still trying to get used to all the bells and whistles. I've been running sensitivity at max in coinhunting mode so that I can get those deep down targets but not sure if that's the best way to go. The soil here in my part of Texas is very dry. What types of soils and sensitivity settings go together? Just trying to figure how to get optimal performance from the machine.
Thanks,

As far as sensitivity settings go, I don't max 'em out on any machine. Especially the GTI 2500. It is a very sensitive machine. I usually run mine around 6.5 or 7. If you go too high on the sensitivity you can not only get alot of false signals, but you may even miss some targets because the detector is compensating for the ground conditions/mineralization, etc. It's a common mistake that alot of people make. You feel like the higher the sensitivity, the deeper the machine will detect. Untrue. The sensitivity setting does not increase the transmit power of the metal detector, but rather increases the "sensitivity" of the machine's reception of the target/ground signals.
I hope I'm not confusing you
