Soon it will be cold and the ground hard in western Pa.
Ovewr the winter i plan on doing some research for sites in the
spring, as well assort thru the coins and stuff I found this year.
Is there anything i can do with the GTI as far as practice indoors?
Seems like putting coins on the floor wont wrok well becauce of nails etc
in the studs.
Also Ive heard from local detectors that I should have GTI recalibrated.
True or not?

Any tips and onfo about any of this is as always much appreciated
Thanks
Ron

First, there's nothing you can do indoors to "practice". You might build a test garden outside and set different coins or other targets at different depths but other than that there's not much you can do. (the coins must be in the ground for a least a week before accurate responses are detected) As far as recalibrating you detector, the GTI 1500 has a reset function by holding down the power button for a few seconds until it resets to factory settings. No other recalibrating is needed.

Never had mine recalibrated and it work well year after year . Good detector!

No need to recalibrate unless it starts getting a little squirrely.

Another old Ranger saying, " If it moves kill it. If it don't move kill it anyway.

Pick up a tumbler for cleaning your non-valuable coins. Harbor Freight has them on sale often for about twenty bucks. You can go to their web site - harborfreight.com

And another Rangerism from the SE asian war Games

Kill em ALL let Budda sort em out!!!

Did I understand this right you say you dug up $200.00 worth of coins this summer? If that's the case you didn't miss to much.Did you find any old coins? If you didn't its only because your not in the right place.Gold rings , I always feel like I was lucky only because of all the trash to be found around the 5 cent area.Silver rings hit around 50 cent area. If you ever do a old farm field run on jewelry mode. Musket balls hit between 5 cent and a penny. I have about 15 musket ball that I have found in farmers fields. Farmers fields are great places to hunt. Little trash and plenty of goodies . Good luck!

Tks for the advise. What aprt of Wv are yo uin?
Im in the Pittsburgh area.If close maybe we can plan a
hunt in betwwen us!!

Ron

Tks for the info. Much appreciated

What part of Pa are you in? Im in the
Pittsburgh area. if close maybe we could plan a hunt

Ron

I admit i got lucky. Most of the coins are current face value.
I found a lot around playground equipment ( with the wood chips on the ground)
and a lot around concession stands with gravel> tahts easy digging if you call moving a
pice of gravel digging!!
and my luckiest spot was an area in a park that must have been used for a coin
hunt for kids. I found over $30.00 in an area as big as a 2-3 bathtubs.someone
must not have felt like scattering the coins. or the kids were lazy!!
Alos heres a tip ( sorta) I found about $10.00 in current coins under straw
near a picnic shelter in a park> i alosmot (ALMOST ) felt guilty cause i wasnt sure
if they had even conducted the kids hunt!!

Anyway good hunting and thanks for connecting
