Went out to Half Moon Bay beach, CA. metal detected about 4.5 mile round trip stretch. $3.10 in clad. Make sure your checking those dunes away from the water. Found a couple shiny quarters and what should have ben a nickel. I had already found 6 nickels and the last three pings at 10, a solid ten no wavering, and out popped the trojan wrapper three different ones. I got the waist pack with two water bottles and a zipper pocket from my son and daughter in law. came in handy today at 73 degrees.

What coil do you use. My nickels are TID 12 with 12/14 at depth if it jumps to 16 its most likely a tab. I spent some time in HMB in the 70s,beautiful place. I was in Tomales.

I would think that size alone would give it away as not being a nickel. And FWIW, nickels are normally 12-14 for me too. 8-10 are usually pulltab tails.
Doesn't matter really. When I'm beach hunting I'm digging all of it anyway.
