I know that this is part of a gun It looks like a percussion model but there is something a little different can't figure it out

The nipple seems to be in the wrong spot!!!

almost looks like it had a firing pin also!!!

any ideas.
 
Sharps had a similar mechanism.There was a second rifle of the same era that was rolling block but can't recall the name at the moment.
