i really believe we all made a difference.
here's the substitute bill:
055501464
HOUSE BILL NO. 2078
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the House Committee on Appropriations
on February 3, 2005)
(Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Van Landingham)
A BILL to amend and reenact

Sure wish they would more clearly define "Object of Antiquity". Are they primarily referring to native American sites/artifacts or the 1940 nickel I found in pocket change yesterday. From what I hear by BLM definition it is over 50 years old and therefore a relic.

you know, there are some out there that leave big holes and don't fill them in. i'm sure that does more damage to our image than anything else.
i've seen the holes first hand that they leave behind. i've seen them in civil war camps, battlegrounds, schools, and parks.
why, one time, about 8 years ago or so, some SOB wandered into the woods on my property relic hunting and left unfilled holes.
i think we need to change our image by doing the right things, like filling holes, and returning lost rings, things like that.
last year, i dug at a church/school site, retreived probably 350 coins total, and you can't even tell i was there, you'd never know i dug a hole. i went back numerous times and talked to the folks there. they asked me to help find a pipe one time, and on another occasion asked if i could find a lawnmower part. one day when marc and i were there, they said be cool, have fun. they had no problem with us digging there because we respected their property.
