Had a heck of a scare yesterday with my SE....

Went out for a couple hour hunt yesterday, got out of the car turned my SE own and started hunting and it won't settle down. I tried rebooting it to factor setting 2 times, went from all metal to at 22 to 32. Put in new batteries, check my coil connections it was all over the place. I went though every setting on there nothing would settle it down. I had my 10 x 12 SEF coil on. I left my stock coil in my truck and didn't have it with me. I went though the complete check list cleaned coil cover, jack sensitively all around, gain up and down. Getting really pissed off after 2 hours and moving to 2 different spots to hunt, :stars: I loaded up to come home. Thinking what the heck just happened, because the day before it worked just fine. As I was driving back home I just looked down when I was at a stop light and noticed two big azz brass ring deals on the bottom of each of my pants legs, like the kind a draw string goes though on BDU pants  I felt relieved by now on one hand, but like a total idiot on the other hand. So a lesson learned today on clothing, and how far out the sides the SEF will pick up a signal. I really like those extra pockets. But that pair is going to Goodwill today.

 Had something similar happen 2x this year; one with a new jacket that has brass or copper snap buttons on the cuff and the second with a new pair of shoes that have (had, I removed them) an inch long metal backed emblem with the companies name on it that is woven into the shoelace near the toe. Took me a while to figure out what was going on with both. I hate that.

I have my mounted on the upper shaft, so every time I return it to the holding brackett, I turn it to the head of the probe pointing upward facing the control houseing and it screams out, I was showed that from a good friend of my a while back it works well.

DoughboyDough I was flat pissed and sick at the same time, wondering how long it was going to take to send it in and get it back for repairs, but I sure was happy when it wasn't broke.

I had a problem almost the same as Bayrat76, I just got my knee replaced and for the life of me it took forever to fine out the problem!! Just wave that coil out as far as possible!!! Ken

Since were telling our stupid detecting moments...I hiked 2 hours into a location and hunted for a half hour before I realized the machine was just giving me nice threshold hums with not one target...I started checking coins from my pocket and sure enough machine was broken. How could that be? I hiked back 2 hours and when I went to put the detector in the truck...I found the coil wire connection had come apart on the hike in...I still dont know why I didnt check it while I was on the spot! #@#$%$#^!!!!!!
