Had a Problem with my Se pro Today?

Went beach hunting today over on the gulf coast in Fla.,
Had two problems with it and don't know what caused it.
1. got a got signal and i went to check it again and it went burrrrrrrrrrr,
So i tried to get the signal again and i couldn't get it, so i turned it off and back on again,
and it worked ok, then it shut off and i didn't do anything to it, so i turned it back on again
and it was ok, then a couple of times it would do the Burrrrrrrrrr again, and i'd shut it off
and it was ok, can somebody help me with this because i just bought it a couple of days ago off
a dealer and it was used before, i put new Batteries in it before i used it, and i usely use an exal
and have for years, never ran into a problem like this before. Harold in Fla.

Mine will do that if it goes into "Overload" but that shows up on the screen. Was there anything on the screen when this happened?

It sounds like the batteries are bad. That's the sound it makes before it dies. Try fresh batteries or do you have a rechargeable pack?

The sound you describe sounds like the sound it makes as the batteries are dying . . . . gets more frequent until your machine turns off.

Turn the detector on and see what battery strength indication you have . . . .then leave it on for 15 minutes and check it again. Often they can read OK initially but die soon afterwards. I have bought new batteries that were in essence dead when I put them in - may have been stored in a hot environment or simply old stock.

You should have the NiMH pack with the detector (hope the dealer gave it to you . . . the batter pack and charger that is ) . . . . . charge it up overnight to make sure it is fully charged and see what indication you have on that. If you still get that noise, it is "call the dealer" time.

I got brand new Batteries and i checked them with a tester,
because it being a used unit i told my wife i better put new batteries in it, and also when i charge
the rechargeable one it only goes to 11.37 volts and it don't seem like it will take any more? Harold

Almost dead batteries will read some voltage. It's the Milli amps that drives the detector. Like somebody said above, some batteries brand new in the box don't work. Even though the voltage read OK, as soon as the detector wants to use some power the amp rating drops like crazy. Like in your car. Your battery will probably read near 12 volts when it won't crank because it's worn out. Put the new one in and it still reads 12 volts. However it'll deliver the amperage you starter needs to turn things over. I'd try another set of batteries. Then...go talk with the dealer who sold it to you. If he's a forum sponsor I know he'll make it right. Jim

I've had that problem in the past. Several years ago I talked to Sandy from Minelab. She reminded me to use a pencil eraser to clean the terminals on the end of the battery packs. That seemed to fix the problem...... Just something to remember.
