Had an opportunity yesterday I had to pass up...

Pete in MI

Got a call from a gentleman in Georgia. He has a detector I have been looking for for some time now (Garrett Master Hunter BFO). I cut my teeth on that make/model and enjoyed it immensely when I was in England. Have always wanted another - for sentimental reasons I guess since the technology is quite old. I sure didn't want to turn it down but had little choice.

Oh BTW forgot to tell you guys I now have a part time job - one day a week (cleaning the church). God answered prayers again. Thank you and thank God.

Getting back to the detector. I bought one when it was top of the line back in the 70s and had all the accessories that I could lay my hands on...later I sold it.

Like I say I have been trying to find another one and now when one is available I just can't swing buying it.
I did thank the gentleman for the offer and suggested he sell it here in Findmall's detector stuff for sale area. He was such a pleasant guy and I can't even call him back (no caller ID for his number). Still wondering how he go my number.

Wasn't long ago we had Casey get a cell phone = for emergencies. She is learning to drive and we wanted her to be able to reach us if there was a problem when she was out on the road with her Dad. He has no cell phone. Well, just got a phone bill as we added her onto our cell phone plan - in my name. The bill is for over $500!!!!

I sure hope this is a mistake - a BIG mistake. But as you see...there is no way I could buy the detector I had always been looking to get when I have this hanging over my head.

Hoping that the gentleman that called might see this so I can once again say how much I appreciate the offer. I don't know if we could do some sort of trade or something. Maybe it is time to just let the sentiment go.

So need some prayers....for this phone bill situation...man I can't believe all the calls she has made and all the text messaging she has been doing. Sure will put a crimp in her style if she has to break into her bank account to pay a large amount of this bill. Kids just have no concept or sense of being responsible.

I'll post a pic if I have to use a sledge hammer on her cell phone to 'adjust it' for her.

That machine will come along again later. As for the cell phone, I would take off the texting thing! I never understood why people use their phone to send an email per say? Just talk to them! :) Are you on a so many minutes plan?
Glad to hear you got some part time work! Praise the Lord!

What we have is Alltel's family plan of 900 minutes a month. We have a 'circle of friends' for 10 people so those calls don't cost anything. Then we are told mobile to mobile (i.e. Alltel to Alltel cell calls) are free...almost everyone up here has Alltel (not many options). Casey doesn't talk as much as she text messages. Thing is she paid an extra $20 a month for have 'unlimited text messages' and being the AXCESS thingy for that same $20 she is supposed to be able to send and receive photos to others phones and to email addresses, able to download ringtones and be on the web with it.

I have a hard time with all of this because we got it for 'emergencies' not all this other garbage. She has like over 350 text messages (one way) and about as many coming the other way. I think this is where the problem is...Alltel has not put the $20 towards the unlimited AXCESS priveldges and she is racking up a bill (15 cents each) for the text messages.

And I agree with you. Want to send text write an email. Want a phone, use it to talk not play games, download cute but un-Christian ringtones, sending photos of whatever, etc.

My cell phone is almost out of minutes (I use pre-pay for mine). Sherry's phone is on the same plan as Casey's.
We were going to look into getting mine on the family's plan once my minutes ran out but not even going there til this other mess is cleared up.

Had gotten my pre-paid one last spring when Sherry was heading to Ann Arbor to be seen by the GOOD doctors down there...we wanted to stay in touch. Maybe will just let my minutes run out and forget having a cell phone...people can leave a message on the home phone

Oh well.

Alltell also. We have been happy with them for almost 3 years now. That means anytime you call my cell we are freeeee! :)

In less than 30 days I have gotten 3 bills from Alltel. I talked to them yesterday at the kiosk where we pay the bills. Sherry and Casey are going there today to talk to the guy again and maybe pay Casey's share of that bill.
According to them she had over 2,000 text messages that weren't covered under the Unlimited AXCESS she paid for. (Apparently these were all done before she got the unlimited service for that.) She owes - according to them - around $322 for text messages. OUCH!!!! Tough lesson for her to learn.
