I have heard talk of this problem,is there a solution or is it just something that may or may not happen again........came out to my van this morning and it was bliping the overload signal over and over,it musta only been on for an couple hours ,because the batteries were still close to full charge. It hadnt happened up to this point and I hope it dont happen again,I dont know what caused it to turn on ,I aint bothered by this,but it could suck if i was low on batteries and didnt have am extra set,and came across a sidewalk scrape begging to be woked over or something. Is there a fix ,or do I suck it up and chalk it up to,the exterra ghosts??? Thanks guys.......the machine is doing real well and has served it pourpose as a reliable back up machine,and has been able to get a handful of old coins from a heavily nail ridden zone where the sov. kinda chokes and nulls over the iron nails ,ALL METAL with the working meter aids in these zones and has been a good tool to have , the thing still needs a damn sunray probe but you cant have it all.........Adam

I agree with the simple fix of taking the batteries out. I had my 50 turn on in the middle of the night. Kind of freaky. While taking the batteries out is easy, Minelab should have addressed this problem a while ago. A $600 detector shouldn't have these problems go unaddressed. My 50 was made in March. This problem has occurred from the beginning.
