Handy tool for detecting

The other day it was raining, so I was watching football and reading the manual to my new Nokta Relic. I was switching back and forth from watching to reading, watching to reading, then it hit me... You know that thing the quarterback wears on his wrist that has his playbook in it? Well, I searched Amazon for "Quarterback wristband" and picked this up for less than $5. It will let me type up 3 small pages to inset into it. Now I can have all my settings, favorite programs, VDI scale, notes, etc. and so on right on my wrist. I have only had this detector for a week or so. I'm sure after I get used to it, I won't need my cheat sheets. I wish I had this when I was toting a notepad full of programming notes for the XLT. Anyway, thought it was cool, and maybe someone out here could use something like this. Just wanted to share. If you think it's stupid, don't comment. Someone might like it!

I started with a sovereign GT. Found cheat sheets on this forum. Printed them and carried them with me for a few months until my pea brain finally started remembering what I was hearing. Nothing wrong with using all available resources to enhance our pleasure in the field.

This is another example of how real people find real answers to make things work better. Necessity is the mother of invention as they say.

Not stupid at all . What works for one , may not work for all. But that would be a lot easier to work with than laying down your detector , pulling out your book out of your pocket to find your settings. I like it .

Pirate, great idea. Will try it . I used to make notes on a 3X5 card and laminate it Sometime I would have so many abbreviations on the card that I would confuse myself. Now that's STUPID..

I have been incredibly busy with work the past week. But, I finally made time to get on the computer and print out some inserts for the wrist band. The top page is a simple VDI chart. This is because on the Nokta Relic, it isn't too practical to look at the scale chart on the side of the box. The VDI shows up on the grip, then I can look over to my other arm if I need to. Then on the inside are some programming notes from Monte (Thanks again!).

I just read this same comment posted on another forum completely unrelated to metal detecting about 10 minutes ago . Que the Twilight Zone music,,,,,,
