Yesterday afternoon on my favourite site found this CELTIC Bronze. Type Whaddon Chase E minted in Suffolk area 45-40BC it would seem to be a forgery as I cannot find a bronze of that type in my books. If so it would have been gold plated. found using my T2 SE fitted with the stock coil now for the sadness!! the coil failed just after finding the coin.Which was about 6" deep in Arable field not ploughed.

Brian,it may be a forgery but still a really lovely find and still over 2000 years old,2 years agao i found my 1st Gold Celtic staor and that was a Whaddon Chase coin as well, after detecting the same area for a few more days a few of us have found a few more and in a very tight radius possibly sub 70ft in radius and this indicates that it could be a possible hoard its almost certainly a hoard but deeper than a normal VLF would pick them up.This is why we have a Pulse machine that when we can get back on site again this we are hoping will tell us if more staters are deeper and also the possibility of a container of some sort.
