Happy with LTD performance today on nickels

I went to an open field today where there was an all day concert a few of years ago. I had hoped to find some jewelry but no luck, didn't expect to find any silver coins. The grass was thick and about 10" tall. The coins were about 3" deep. There is nothing impressive here with these finds but what I liked was, how high you can swing the coil on the LTD above the ground and still get good signals and how good the ID was. There were hundreds of modern pull tabs (it was a bring your own cooler concert) coming in at 31 to 33. I found 7 nickels and the ID was right on at 29 to 30. I don't know what you would do in a place like this without a visual ID, in places there were multiple pull tabs per square foot. Found 1 lone wheat penny but had a good time. Took my 82 year old dad, he spent most of the time watching me dig, he has a hard time getting up once he gets down. I dug a few for him but for the most part he was content to just be out and watch. Thanks for looking, Randy

The biggest prize was that you got to detect with your Dad. The rest was just whipped cream on the cake.:super:

Glad your dad was able to get out with you. That is a great find in itself. Finding nickels is one of the good things about the LTD and regular F 75. The F's will flat out find nickels. HH jim tn

Thanks guys, I can't think of anything I would rather do than metal detect with family or friends. I tried something new today, since the grass was so tall and the mosquitoes and gnats were thick. I took a drier sheet and a clothes pin and pinned the drier sheet to the back of my shirt at the neck and it did the trick. Was not bothered by either of those varmits. Someone told me to try that, has anyone else heard or tried that?

That sounds like a real nice outing you had with your Dad---thanks for shareing it with us.-----That dryer sheet thing is one I haven't heard of but boy, I'm going to try it!--Sounds like it might be a simple way to take care of a real "pain in the rear" problem!---Thanks for that info also. ---------Del

Congratulations on your dad going along. You will not regret that time spent.
I'm still waiting on my LTD.
:cheekkiss:When you can
My dad says we'll go but never does.
Of course when I get 82 I might not go either.
