Gidday, yep, very happy with my Quattro!!! It's a fairdinkum powerful machine!!! I'm still out there detecting with it. Plan to go again in the next few days.
Golden:detecting:
ps guess there's a lack of posts as we're all out there detecting, you think?!!!!

My Quattro is a keeper. It is a simple machine and has quirks but from chatting with others here and reading the archives it has really helped me to gain maximum efficiency. I use the 4x7 coil on it all the time. Don't beat me up on this but I use a White's DFX with 6x10 coil to go over a site initially and to find the best hot spots. After that I redo the site and hot spots with the Quattro. It is constantly amazing how much more I find second time around with the Quattro.

thank u all for the feedback, glad to see i'm not the only happy quattro owner out there..... just had to check, didnt mean to interupt ur beepin lol. good luck all, diggitdawg..

Yup !

I agree...

I've got mine for three months now and I was at first amazed at the quietness of quattro forums...

Even the mlo forum shows little movement into the quattro section.

Main posts about explorers are about programs and settings and doubts about the rights settings on the right places. The Q is simpler to use, yes as powerful.

So indeed, Quattro owners don't have problems...

Hope this will last !

Huh, Sorry, Just woke up! Love my Quattro! Bought a Sun Ray 5" coil, a few weeks ago. Wow! I love that thing too now. Picking up more silver, indians, and buffs since I put it on.
Anyone thought of putting on one of the new Pro Coil? My friend, the dealer says it makes as much difference on a Quattro as it does on an Explorer. Still waiting to hear from someone that has tried it.

Now I need to take a little nap before I go out and swing my Quattro!

That's an interesting post!!! I know some of the other, "old timer" quatro users also have a DFX and still use it also. I'm just wondering why you would first use the DFX and then the Quatro on the same site. That's very interesting, unless, it's because, the DFX has a larger coil, therefore, more depth, in order to find the initial finds, but then you use the Quatro to zero in on them. I'm not sure if I'm even close on this one, but that's a very interesting way of doing things. Marc.

I love My Quattro! I have been using a Fisher CZ-6a over the years, and have found a lot of great coins. I have always wanted to own a Minelab But I have a profound hearing loss and can not hear all the sounds that the Minelab detectors put out. Last month I started wearing hearing aids with Blue tooth technology.
Now I can hear sounds that I've been missing for 30 years. So I decided to get a Quattro because it easier to use that the Explorer SE and I like the looks of it. I still learning to use it, have not been to the beach yet. From what I seen so far the Quattro if a great detector!

Marc, Your right about the coil size being the main reason to use the DFX first then the Quattro second. This is especially true when a large area has to be covered with the larger coil on the DFX. Just recently a friend let me MD a 60 year old house. The front yard and side drive way area were small. I pulled out 4 silver dimes, 12 wheaties, and some jewerly with the DFX. I was sure that my skills had improved enough with the DFX that nothing would be found by a follow up with the Quattro. Wrong again, the Quattro found 2 silver dimes and 3 wheaties. Maybe another thing is that usually when the Quattro locks on a target it stays with a more solid ID then the DFX. Thus with the DFX if the target ID bounces around too much I will move on to the next target. Depth is about the same with the larger coil on the DFX and the smaller coil on the Quattro. Jim

Hi

This last post, and my experience with the Q make me ask that one question : Why not try the contrary. First the Q, then the White's.

According to what I noticed, on the beach, the Q picks up coins that other MDs will miss. Those lying deep and not really flat, or just on edge.

So I wonder if the White's would find anything after the Q. You could also hit the ground twice with the Q, and of course with two different coils..;

Just curious, huh !

I am trying a 5" coil i just got from Kelly Co tonight... Hope to be able to get to targets better, as the pin pointer is garbauge on the Quattro in my opinion..BUT, the Q does go DEEP!!!

Hello !

Here's a trick for the pinpoint mode :

To pinpoint more precisely, just sweep the coil backwards (towards your feet) and wait for the signal to disappear. At this moment, the target is just in front of the coil

I'm really happy with Quattro.Found lots of silver with it . My friend's called my Quattro: "Roman-Tamer".
It is very "user friendly" detector.Didn't see any difference in Finding deep coins (compare to EXII and SE)!. in my honest opinion this make Quattro so special. It's slower than Explorers-But i don't care...In real "trashy" area it's better to use Tesoro anyway :bouncy:

Hi, nick hunter, Using the DFX first and the Quattro second is a just a routine since the DFX has a large coil and the Quattro has a small coil. A big coil covers more ground than a small coil in the same amount of time. Areas where the DFX has found things is where I use the Quattro for a second pass. The excitmentof the hunt and never enough time also has something ro do with the DFX and Quattro sequence. Each machine has it's advantages and disadvantages. The big coil on the DFX can miss a coin because it is masked by something ferrous(trash to me). The small coil on the Quattro can find that missed coin if you swing the coil slow and go over the ground from different directions. I will try and start a new post of an article written about 8 years about the masking of good targets from peices of trash near by. It is worth reading. Take care, Jim

Hey Jim,
I am using the two coils on my Quattro the same way. I use the 10.5 to go over an area, and then go back over with the 5" in places where there was a lot of signal. Makes perfect sense to me.
Good Luck,
Mark
