Some area's got some rain over the weekend, but not the area my fields are located. Everything still dry as a bone. Actually, not bad digging as the dirt is crumbly. Went back to the field that I briefly hit towards the weekend that yielded me the Merc and a couple of wheats. Once again, mostly clad and cents. $1.76 to be precise this morning, but finally did manage one more silver coin from the spot, a 44d Washington Qtr. Noticed a couple of old stumps on one end of the field and worked my way down to them. Got the silver quarter and the 58d wheat beside one of the stumps. Most of the coins are dated in the 70's into the 90's, so suspect from the kerchief slide I recovered that the Scouts used the field for gathering. Also dug a neat flower button that seems to be some type of pot metal. Can't find any makers name on the back, but is in over all good condition. Not going to spend much more time on this field. Got about 10 hours on it now and just not enough indication that it was used like some of the other fields in earlier decades. Stay hydrated. HH jim tn
