Harness?

How many of you use a harness for the se, and do you really need a slow swing to get good reading from the se?

Slow is the way to go with your coil close to the ground for the deepies..SE you may be able to swing a little faster as it has faster innards....Just the nature of the beast...In retrospect an XLT has to be swung faster and the CZ is a slow swinger also if you want depth. All units differ and as I am a natural slow swinger and an Explorer fits my style while my partner is a natural fast swinger and an XLT fits his style..In addendum we had one young fellow from the club that swung a bit faster and excelled but perhaps his excellent hearing and perhaps something we don't know was the reason...He was a silver coin hunter and just the slightest high tone he slowed down and went over the area again. I guess whatever works in your neck of the woods with your settings and your ground but all in all slow is the way to go...

Whoops the swingy thing and various homeade harnesses seem to work quite well as they transfer the weight to larger muscles of the back and your arm and shoulder don't take the abuse..Would stay away from harnesses if you have back problems....Due to several hour trips and careful setup for my body makeup have no problems and having a bad back would not use a harness....

Unless I have to. I think the SE Processor is faster then my Exp LL or the XS I had. I usuall run Fast on and that will help your sweep speed. I hunt a lot of Iron trash and just trash in General. That is just the way it is down here. I swing faster with the SE then My Fishers but not that much faster. :D: :D: HH Jerry aka Tinfoil.

I use the swingy-thingy or a modification on all my detectors. Since getting one for the EX 2 & the WOT I have found that whatever coil I am swinging the harness is a big help in allowing me to hunt longer and keep my concentration as I tend to get sloppy when I am getting tired

I have used the harness and unlike Jerry I personally can't stand it. I just feel to restricted, thats me though. I still use it when I use the 18 inch coil though. As far as sweep speed, I don't know how much time you have in on the Explorer line so slow sweep is the way to go until you really understand the machine. When sweeping with a moderate speed you just have to know what tones you are looking for and hit the brakes when you hear a chirp of that tone. You'll then have to sweep slowly over it to determine if its worth digging. I only use a moderate sweep speed if I am in an open fairly clean area. I would say 95% of the time I am sweeping sloooow cause most the areas I hunt are trashy. The Explorers have always excelled in trash compared to other detectors and this is where a lot of my finds are made. It would be foolish to sweep fast over this type of ground.

If I adjust it for when it's straight out in front of me, I have to push down on it at the outer edges of my swing. I don't like this changing situation. It is useful for keeping up with the Excal when in the water.
