Recently ? Poor old Richard Dodds (Sensor Detectors)was producing them twenty years back which did not need fitting in the detector, as with the XP ones, or having a large box on the back as per Highland Innovations. A simple jackplug (car ignition key size) would be slipped into the detector jack and the audio output provided the transmit power.
Unfortunately after the Sensor 7k detector which was well ahead of its time and a coil free of the wire to the control box (it transmitted back and forth) he went on to other projects.
A cheap option is homemade from kids walki-talkies though they will need a battery at the machine and the headphones. No real know-how is needed (even mine work fine though you might get problems with multifrequency machines) if you follow Dan Clarks instructions on his site 'Somewhere in Time'

Mine cost just over
