HAS ANYBODY TRIED THIS???

Turning the 1050 coil half around on the shaft? (I'm serious)----To try to alleviate some of the weight/balance of that coil on the Explorer--or any off centered connecting coil, I guess. I've seen just a little info on that some time back and have experimented with it a little around my yard, although I haven't actually hunted with it that way. It looks a little wierd and takes some getting used to. But with what little I've played around with it-it does seem to help. Anything to make a better balance coming off the end of that stick! Just wondering if anybody's tried it. Del

The best way to lessen arm fatique is to shorten the lower rod so that as you hunt your arm is straight, NOT bent at the elbow. This will put the coil closer to your feet causing you to slow down as well, which is the way to hunt with the Explorer. Try this and you will find your arm no longer tires.

JEFF & MARIA----I do have the lower rod shortened for a straight arm swing-as much as possible-without cupping the coil (upward) at the end of each swing. In addition to that though-I was just wondering if putting more of the coil behind that shaft would help even more with the weight to balance factor. Thanks for your response, Del

I to hunt with a straight arm .And try to ware shoes with no big steal eyes or steal towed boot.s ..Hobby

I haven't done it with my Explorer, but after following that suggestion that Digger brought up some time ago, I tried it on my X-Terra with the 10.5 DD coil, which looks identical to the Explorer's coil, and it definitely better balanced. Looks a bit odd though, but it works. I'm not sure that I would do it all the time though as my aesthetic sensibilities get in the way a bit.

Del, I think it's a great idea...:detecting:

It would put more weight to the rear, it would feel a bit "strange" though...

I must say I'm pretty much from Jeff & Maria's school,
I run my coil pretty close to the front of my feet.
