My question is, Has anyone actually got theirs or seen an AT Max in stock yet?
Just needed to vent a little so I hope I don't offend anyone.
My Max Journey and my confusion so far
Jan. 1st - Two of my friends got detectors for Christmas so I decided I was going to get one too.
Months of research on detectors and by April I'm leaning towards an AT Pro.
I'm traveling for work till the end of May so I'm in no hurry to get one.
April 6th - Garrett announces a new detector is coming.
April 20th - Garrett sets May 6th as the day they will show the new detector.
May 6th - Garrett introduces the AT Max
May 8th - I order a Max online and the website says it will be shipped the first week of June.
By the end of May I also ordered most of the accessories that I thought I would need to start detecting, all to be delivered around the first week of June.
June 22nd - Garrett releases a press announcement that the Max will be delayed till August.
August 1st - Steve Moore delivers the first two Max Demo units to American Detector Distributors and states Garrett will start shipping them later in August.
I call Garrett consumer service about once a week for any news on shipping, every time I call they say the same thing, they plain on shipping them by the end of the month
The Morning of August 25th I call Garrett costumer service and I'm told they are still planing to ship by the end of the month.
That Afternoon of August 25th Garrett releases another press release which is pretty much the same as the June 22nd press release except now it says they will begin building and shipping after Labor Day.
Now by August 25th I sitting on around $800 worth of accessories but I don't have / own a metal detector
August 26th - I pick up a used GTA 350 for $50
Sept. 7th - Garrett post on their Facebook that the first shipment of AT Max detectors departed their Garland, Texas, dock last week.
Which would or could make it the last week of August just like they been saying
The post went on to say they shipped more out the day before an more will go out that day and will continue shipping them out daily.
Sept. 12th - I can't find a U.S. distributor or dealer that has got their shipment in yet. So I call Garrett costumer service
They told me they just started shipping them out this week
I told them about the Facebook post and they said they didn't know anything about that and they just started shipping them out.
I'm new but, is this normal behavior for this industry? I mean beside my part Does this confusion and delays happen a lot in this industry?
It seems to me that maybe, Garrett's Manufacturing Dept, Marketing, and Costumer Service don't talk to each other enough
