Has anyone tried the minelab apps for smart phones, games and more

They have a minelab app for the e-trac as of now :( hopefully they can get a xterra ap. it probably wouldn't take much more. They also have a game I am downloading now and I will give some feedback later after I play it a bit. I have iPhone 4 so not sure what other carriers and phones they will work for.

Hello

I am the author of the app - hope you find it useful - Thanks for your comments and I have already produced a new version (V1.3) that has all the Minelab machines and Manuals in it - including different languages.

The app will "evolve" as the requests and suggestions come in - I will listen and adapt the app to suit all Treasure Hunters.

I am currently producing an Android version of the Treasure Tracking app which "should" be out in the next couple of weeks.

Happy Hunting everyone.

Hey thank you for stepping up and keeping the minelab out in front of the pack. Cannot find the other manuals on the app only the etrac. All apps are up to date it says and I even erased it and re downloaded it. I have iPhone 4 on AT&T. I have not used the "add new find" yet but plan to to keep track of items I find and locations.

That is good and thank you very much for producing it, but other than the owners manual in different laguages what else does this E-Trac app contain in it.??

The add new find is a feature that allows you to write info on your find. It records the date and location via GPS with long and lat coordinates. So you could take a pic of a found coin and go right back to the spot you found it. Another way for the man to track our finds probably. Lol.

It has a gallery to look at or show your pics.

It has a map like MAPS on iPhone app so you don't have to switch apps

It has notes area for notes. Lol

It has patterns for the etrac. All preset I think. Not sure if you can add your own or how that works.

It also has a "modes" section I belive for etrac only.

Suggestions. How about a 705 manual and a TID chart like digger made for the coins. Also the little tips and hints section like they did on the sides of the ebook would be the best bet. Also a quick setup guide for noobs would get them out there swinging more. It's coming along great though. As a business owner myself operating by mainly word of mouth you really have to listen to the customers. Good luck.

Since I have an Android phone I haven't tried it but I do question if I would find it useful from my Danish perspective.

1. I rarely use my manual (I'm using X-Terra 70) anymore. If I wanted to have it on my phone I would download the pdf-version on it. If I used it a lot I would place it somewhere handy on the phone.
2. When I take a pic it's geotagged already. If I put them on Picasa I can see them placed on Google Maps/Earth.
3. When I record a find I do it by using an app called "GPS Status" since this gives me the coordinates in the right format (for most of the country). It seems the Minelab app just use the standard format known from Google Earth etc. but I would have to convert those before turning my finds over to the museum. Or the museum would have to spend time doing it. If I want to make a digital note of my find, GPS Status lets me use Evernote to make a note with the coordinates. I can add photos to that too.
4. I know where I am. I have no need for a map during detecting.

I'm glad if people find it useful but I'm not sure it has any purpose for me or my fellow detector users here.

It seems like you would have to swap apps to do all the things listed. With this app you wouldn't have to.

Well I figure it's free so mise well check it out. Over here I cover a lot of area and if I find something I want to be able to go right back(prospecting). It's layout is really basic.

Hi -

I promise the app does not send your find info anywhere else apart from where you want it to go. Especially in the UK that sort of activity is illegal. The data is stored locally on your iPhone.

The app is designed to be an all in one place app for basic gps and photo/note taking for finds. It does what it says on the tin.

The newer version is in the queue to be released by Apple but has not yet been published (i'm waiting) - it contains ALL the Minelab manuals if you want them and a success stories area.

The app is aimed at all levels including beginners who want to refer to a manual.

The E-Trac part will evolve into self programmable patterns and modes and hopefully a direct interface in the field via Apples new usb converter for iPhone.

It's FREE!

The Android version is complete and is awaiting publication on the Android marketplace - again FREE.

Your all free to choose what you want on your phone or not - i'm not telling anyone to put it on your phone!! - I actually designed it for me to use and thought I would share it with the world. No bad thing I think.

Your Iphone will automatically update once Apple have released the newer versions, no need to delete etc.

Happy Hunting everyone.

Thank you again for the update. Also thank you again for doing the work on this. Please keep us posted on the updates. Thank you

I don't see it yet on the Android Market. If the E-trac had the capability to export target information on the fly to a phone connected via usb that would be something else. Think of what you could do with the data accumulated data....Is the Android app available via the Minelab website?

HI - The Android app is out now guys and gals. - The iPhone version is out with all the manuals in it but i'm currently fixing a small bug, I launched it anyway because I have put a free gift box on the main screen - send your name to Minelab to claim a small prize. (The bug with manual loading is fixed and is in the queue for release via Apple) - if you don't have an iPhone put "free gift" in the subject of an email and send it to minelab@minelab.ie

The iPhone version I am hoping to interface to the ETRAC so you can load, set and send and receive your Patterns and modes files in the field via your phone. It's a long way off completion but I will let you know as it goes on or if anything changes. These apps are new and keep evolving as I get comments and suggestions so many updates to follow.

Martin
Thanks for all of your hard work with this application. I would love to see the ability to upload patterns and modes in the field via android too.

Thanks for the great app. I do have a question though. Are there any plans on making the map feature use the GPS chip in the phone to precisely locate where you are for marking locations? I live in the US and would be nice to have the ability to automatically locate where I am and instantly mark it.
