Has anyone upgraded from an F4 to F5?

Any comment on the extra features compared depth, ID accuracy between the two. Also is it much of an upgrade in comparison or might i be disapointed & wished i'd gone for the f70 or f75....I don't want to sell my F4 & its 3 coilsThat I Love to use for something that is only marginly better on primarily its depth. But then again that margin could be the difference between no find & a good find.

All comments welcome

I have a F4 and upgraded to the Tek Omega which is the cousin of the F5. Like you I am keeping my F4 with 3 coils.

My Tek is now my main detector and the F4 is backup.

The performance between the 2 is quite a bit different. Almost twice the depth on the Tek and smoother running to name a couple. Both have a good TID but the Tek doesn't jump numbers as much and is more accurate.

To me I definately made an upgrade. You might also want to consider the Tek Gamma. The same price as the F5 with a more refined platform than the F5. From what I have read the Tek series is a little deeper than a F5 but I have never held a F5 to compare too.

Hope this helps as this is my personal expierence I have had and it might be different for you in your ground.

blacktoe, I recently purchased a Minelab X-Terra 305 (upgraded from a Garret Ace 250) and am happy with the unit, but not satisfied. I am thinking about getting a Fisher F4, but I see that you own a Teknetics Omega 8000. I just read an amazing review on the Omega. Do you concur? Do you really like this unit? Do you have the 11" coil? If so, How deep are you getting with the 11" DD coil? I am debating purchasing the F4 with the bigger coil for better depth, and would like to hear your input. You and others have really peaked my interest with the 8000!

Thanks in advance,
