Got into a nasty place today that made me decide to close my iron mask up one notch. I hit IM and as you know, it goes to Smart screen before you go back to the Bar to set IM. Well when it went to smart screen it was all black. I don't remember the last time I went there but I must have been playing with the screen and got distracted by something or someone and shut my machine down or something.
To make a long story longer, I wonder if this affected anything in my everyday hunting? I'm only guessing as to how it got that way. Anyway, I reset back to Factory and reinstalled my settings. I guess it wouldn't hurt to check things once in a while or just reset and renew your favorite settings.

That and also a Blank Screen. Had to adjust the Contrast to see everything again and everything was set back to 0 for settings. I also have a hunting parnter that is experiencing this since the last 2 hunts, he has had to do a Reboot and reset his settings. I think this problem is a loose battery or faulty connection with the battery. Good Luck and HH.

Bob and James, I had a funny experience to do with re-establishing factory presets...

I have just returned from two weeks up country staying with my daughter and grand daughters...
One day my SE wouldn't start for me while I was up there...
I tried my back up rechargeable ~ NO GO...
I fitted my reserve AA alkaline battery pack, still no start up.
All I got was the initial first display " Minelab Explorer SE."
Then it went gray, it seemed to be neither off or on...
I had to withdraw the battery to completely shut it off !!!:surrender:

Finally I did what you did Bob, and held my finger on the start button, it started good as ever !
But in factory preset settings, I had to re set ALL my preferences too.
I had some pretty snazzy screens that I had dreamed up too !!! ~ All gone !:stars:

I go along with your thinking James regarding bad battery connections,
low voltage circuits don't need much gunk to accumulate on them to make a bad connection.
I'm going to dampen a tissue with CRC contact cleaner, and rub the two metal contact plates on my battery pods.
I'll do this now and then to maintain maximum electrical contact...
I don't know how to dab the springs in the battery compartment though, maybe I'll make an extra long cotton bud out of a bamboo satay stick...

I've been leaving my SE in the truck the past couple weeks. The worst thing is, I know better. Cold nights and warm days.
